Anyways, here’s a dialect map showing all the dialects of USA & Canada. I love the weird little carve outs in places like the Minnesota Iron Range and Miles City, MT. That latter one is a real WTF for me. Anyone know the story there?

Dialect map nailed it. Raised in the upper Great Plains, but grew up trying to imitate 80s California skaters. Then lived most of my life in Portland, Ore. I still call that grassy area a “berm” cos it’s a good word. But I also refer to a group of many things as “hella.”
