The reason there are so many MPs who are landlords is because it's a fundamental way of accumulating wealth whilst being an MP. Buy a house, charge the mortgage payments to expenses, rent your other house out, leverage the equity of the two of them to purchase a BTL and kerrrrching, it's all gravy

Wee Seamus, who has been banging on about "the rule of law" incessantly for 2 weeks now, is having trouble digesting the whole concept of "higher court ruling" when it comes to the Garvaghy Road parade. Hard to believe the man's never actually acquired any substantive legal qualifications isn't it?
@JamieBrysonLLB
The Portadown District won using the law. They defeated nationalists and republicans. They couldn't take it, and the balaclava slipped.
There is a legal right to walk the Garvaghy Road, established in law. That right will be exercised. This issue is not going away.Jamie Bryson • @JamieBrysonLLB • 34m
Portadown District have won, not only in establishing and embedding a legal right, but in managing to force the exposure of two tier policing and showing up the entire structure of institutions for what they are.
Profound consequences must mean what it means.@JamieBrysonLLB
It's very hard to see how any unionist or loyalist could credibility continue with any form of engagement with such a politically compromised PSNI.
After the Storey funeral, DCC Singleton led much community engagement work to try and rebuild confidence. All that is now gone, buried under the weakness and politicking of Jon Boucher.Jamie Bryson & @JamieBrysonLLB
We have defeated nationalism using the law, and they simply couldn't take it.
The whole rotten core of the Belfast Agreement institutions has now been exposed, as has the deeply embedded two tier policing.
There is a legal right to walk Garvaghy Road. They couldn't win on the law, but needed the mob.
We won't forget.

Not to mention, the Pulse attack, which was also Islamist terrorism, had triple the body count to the Fort Hood attack. And there have been multiple worse mass shooting incidents since 2009; Las Vegas, Sandy Hook, Sutherland Springs, El Paso, Uvalde, and Parkland were all deadlier attacks.

NEW: The head of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has issued a statement firmly condemning plans to livestream the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan. Archbishop Paul Coakley calls the decision “a barbaric promotion of a culture of death and must be reconsidered.” www.usccb.org/news/2026/us...

WASHINGTON - Yesterday, the U.S.
Department of War announced that the firing squad execution of Nidal Hasan, the man convicted of killing 13 people and injuring 32 at Fort Hood, Texas in 2009, would be publicly livestreamed. Archbishop Paul S. Coakley, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops issued the following statement sharply condemning the decision of the U.S. government:
"It is with shock and great sorrow that I have learned of the Department of War's decision to publicly livestream the execution of Nidal Hassan. Our God is the God of life. In no way can Hassan's actions be condoned but this decision is a barbaric promotion of a culture of death and must be reconsidered. The word of God exhorts us: 'do not repay anyone evil for evil' (Romans 12:17). The public execution even of one who has done grave harm will only further undermine the moral fabric of our nation and be a blight on the conscience of its people.United States

For those not familiar with the area, 914 is the area code for Westchester County where he lives. And New Rochelle is not exactly a war zone, it's even safer than NYC. Here's the main PUBLIC high school in New Rochelle.
A massive and elaborate French Gothic building in front of an artificial lake, with a grassy field in front, that looks more like a fancy university building than any public high school.

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

Your regular reminder that the job of an ICE officer is dramatically safer than the job of a regular cop, such that not a single ICE deportation officer has been killed in the line of duty since 1949 (and that was actually a stabbing inside an INS jail in Hawaii, not street enforcement).

The official petition to end the mandatory

My gosh. Mike Huckabee's top aide: —Covered up an embassy report on Israeli killings of 9 Americans —Fabricated Orwellian reports on Israeli settler violence & the "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" to make it sound good for Israel —Questioned staff on whether they were “pro-Israel” or “pro-Hamas”
In late March, at the height of the Iran war, Israel quietly approved more settlements in the Israeli-occupied West Bank than it ever had at one time.
Staff members at the United States Embassy in Jerusalem saw the move as potentially flouting one of President Trump's explicit red lines for Israel - no annexation of the West Bank - and drafted an urgent report intended for policy makers in Washington.
That memo never reached Washington. It was quashed by David Milstein, a top aide to Ambassador Mike Huckabee, according to three U.S. officials briefed on the process.
This was no isolated incident.
Since taking up his post in April 2025, Mr. Milstein, 36, has repeatedly suppressed or significantly revised embassy reporting on Israeli activities to present the Netanyahu government in a favorable light, according to a dozen people who work with or interact with Mr. Milstein in both Jerusalem and Washington:
• As settler violence in the West Bank surged in the spring, for instance, he stymied embassy reporting suggesting that the Israeli government was failing to take action, according to the three officials. Instead the embassy sent a cable to Washington, viewed by The New York Times, praising Israel for "cracking down" on the attacks.
• When members of Congress pushed for accountability over the killings of nine Palestinian Americans by Israeli settlers and security forces, he suppressed a detailed report that the embassy staff had written, effectively stonewalling lawmakers' efforts to gain information, according to multiple officials briefed on the matter.Mr. Milstein rewrote the cable to declare GHF's operation a success while overlooking the mass casualties, according to people who saw the cable and were briefed on the editing process.
Troubled by glaring discrepancies between news coverage and the embassy's official reports, White House and State Department officials seeking a clearer picture of events bypassed standard channels at least twice to communicate directly with embassy staff, according to two officials briefed on the outreach and an internal communication from late this summer seen by The Times.
Veteran American diplomats said that withholding or twisting the information sent to Washington should raise serious concerns.
"The embassy ought to tell Washington everything — the good, the bad and the ugly," said Dan Kurtzer, who was the U.S. ambassador to Israel under President George W. Bush. "If they're not doing so, they are damaging the policy-making process and possibly undermining the president's policies."
Mr. Milstein also questioned several colleagues on whether they were "pro-Israel" or "pro-Hamas," according to four officials, who found the question inappropriate and said it made some people fearful of speaking freely.
