I recently got started on a multiplayer game in Godot, and even though I'm decently knowledgeable when it comes to game dev and computer networking, I found it a little tricky, so I figured that game devs who might have less networking experience would appreciate knowing what I got caught up on.

We'll cover similar ground as the official Godot guide, but less focused on code and more on foundational concepts, so even if you don't use Godot, a lot of this should still be useful to you, and may even be interesting if you're not a developer!

PSA: The latest NVIDIA App update adds a Default-ON option that allows AI Agents to control the app... Might want to turn it off.. Even aside from being lame AI features, that feels like making security even worse by defaulting it ON.

I frequently see "AI" boosters implying that LLMs are simply an innate and superior part of coding now, inescapable, and that literally all programmers agree with them. And, well. That, too, is a form of propaganda

Looking at my software peers in 2026 I see fatigued faces, I see frustration, and I see a lot of people looking for a way out of an industry that seems poised on the brink of collapse. LLMs are being pushed on us at every turn, most people seem at best frustrated by them, and ultimately they seem to appeal most to people who see the production of software as a purely mechanical means to an end. They are antithetical, however, to the idea of software as a craft, or something requiring both initial and ongoing care. As an expression of the soul.

Today, Starbucks announced they’re closing about 250 US stores this week. A small number of these are union stores.

We expect to engage in effects bargaining for every impacted union store, as we have done elsewhere, over the conditions of these closures, including transfers so workers can be placed in another Starbucks store based on their preferences.

But let’s be clear - today’s announcement proves once again that ‘Back to Starbucks’ is nothing more than a betrayal of what workers and customers loved about the company.

As Starbucks continues to close stores, violate labor law, hike up our healthcare premiums, and betray its core value of belonging to appease right-wing politicians, the company is moving farther away from everything it once was. Starbucks is becoming unrecognizable under CEO Brian Niccol — and that is why labor allies, elected officials, and customers are all joining together to boycott Starbucks until they finalize a fair union contract.

Starbucks leadership is failing the company, and trouble is brewing for Starbucks. When just this month, the country’s most pro-business court of appeals called Starbucks a ‘repeat violator’ of labor law, it’s time for everyone to start paying attention.
