Wild watching #vanpoli media ignore Kareem Allam’s behaviour. When questioned on electing right-wing figures, he accuses voters as being racist and asks if they’ve “eaten bugs.” His refugee parents don’t exempt him from scrutiny over working to elect right-wingers who worsen life for many residents.
X post and exchange reads:

Lindsay Brown @Lidsvil... 2026-08-16 X And yet you chose to work to elect people who push austerity and directly contribute to widening inequality and poverty. It's straight neoliberalism, and in Ken Sim's case, worse. Nice try not owning what you have supported here.

Main Street Car Free Day nearly got cancelled this year. @lucymaloneyvancouver helped save it with an urgent motion at council. Today, on that same street, OneCity is announcing Connect Vancouver: our action plan to ensure every neighbourhood gets a real choice in how they get around.
OneCity Vancouver policy announcement graphic titled "Connect Vancouver." Text reads: "Every neighbourhood deserves a real choice in how it gets around." Illustration of a purple bus and a person riding a bicycle. Button reads "Learn More."OneCity Vancouver graphic with heading "Same city. Very different options." Text reads: "You've stood at a bus stop watching a third full bus drive past. You've wondered whether your kid can bike to school without crossing four lanes of traffic. Downtown: 71% of trips are car-free. Southeast Van: 31%." Illustration of a person walking a dog past trees. Button reads "Let's fix that."OneCity Vancouver graphic with heading "Our commitments." Three bullet points: Faster buses with priority signals. One connected network: protected walking and cycling routes that actually link up, safe if you're 8 or 80. Safe routes first: schools, parks, and daily errands before anything else. Illustration of four people standing together beside a bus. Button reads "Say More!!"OneCity Vancouver graphic with three more commitments: Save Mobi: explore public ownership of the bike-share system so it doesn't disappear. Publish a transit report card: a publicly accessible evaluation of progress, neighbourhood by neighbourhood. Prioritizing underdeveloped networks: the first communities served will be the ones without access, so everyone in Vancouver has a choice on how to get around. Text reads: "Read the full plan at onecityvancouver.ca/connectvancouver." Illustration of an East Van cross sign, a neighbourhood streetscape, and a person on a bicycle.

A red 'Learn More' button appears in the bottom corner.OneCity Vancouver 'Key Facts' slide. Text reads: Vancouver used to have the Inspiration Pass, a free library pass into museums, galleries, and rec centres that people loved. The flaw: limited passes and months-long waitlists led to a lottery won by whoever could plan furthest ahead. Library Card Plus pre-loads opportunities onto every free VPL card: culture and rec passes, printing credits, Wi-Fi hotspots, and free meeting rooms. Delivered through all 21 library branches, with deeper benefits for seniors, youth, newcomers, and low-income residents. Illustration shows a person standing before a neighborhood streetscape with houses, trees, and a small shop.OneCity Vancouver 'Let's make it happen' slide. Text reads: A family outing in this city shouldn't cost a day's pay. The library is one of the last places in Vancouver where everyone belongs without opening their wallet, and joy isn't a luxury to us, it's part of what makes a city worth living in. If you think the free library card in your pocket should unlock museums, pools, theatres, and more, sign your name below, or using the link in bio.
