At some point, I will catch up with myself and post a few pictures of the summer. Mostly aircraft and vehicle photos, but photos nonetheless. In the meantime, here’s a frankly epic cherry bakewell tart from Props & Pistons at East Kirkby on the August Bank Holiday Monday.
My left hand, holding a half-eaten cherry bakewell tart. A cup of shortcrust pastry is encasing about half an inch of actual cherries, underlying about half an inch of almond sponge. It tasted AMAZING.

It was so cool to catch Fubar Aviation’s Lim-5 (aka a MiG-17F) on the ground at Duxford the other week 🤩 Sad I haven’t seen her in the air, but I’ve loved seeing everyone else’s images of her. One of these is going to have to get a mention in Book 2, now 😁

It’s been a busy week. Haven’t had much writing time but I can feel it itching in the back of my brain, for when I get chance … I’ve spent quite a bit of time with my 1950s antagonist (who I kind of like as a person, oddly). Now to do the same with my 2024 one. He’s not such a pleasant person.

As it’s the school holidays, yesterday was baking time with Young Mr R. We made cake dinosaurs, and he thought it would be fun to give the dinos googly eyes. These dinosaurs have seen things. Terrible things 😂
A cake brontosaurus (I think - four legged sauropod of some sort), with a large googly eyes that makes it look extremely shocked. A cake T-Rex, resting back on its haunches, with a googly eye making it look like it’s sitting there traumatised.

Looking through a kid’s colouring book and came across … whatever in the AI slop induced hallucination this is. 🤦🏻‍♀️ But yeah. Let’s build data centres and give them all our clean water for someone to churn out this 💩
An uncoloured page of a colouring book. No description of mine can do justice to the absolute travesty of this, but I shall try.

It is an airport scene. An aircraft is being towed away from what I assume is a terminal building … by a tug BOAT. Yes. A boat. Yet there is no evidence of water, despite the line between the boat and the aircraft, which is simply generic passenger jet.

Although there’s something on the left hand side of this image that could be a vehicle or a very weirdly proportioned jet. Or possibly just a bit of building.

It’s an AI hallucination. It’s depressing AF.

Young Mr R loves baking. So we made some chocolate cupcakes today. I then asked if he wanted to ice them. He said yes. So we made chocolate buttercream as well. Considering it must be at least 10 years since I made any kind of icing, I think we did good 😄
6 chocolate cupcakes sitting on a cooling rack. They’re iced with swirls of chocolate buttercream and dotted with milk and white chocolate chips.

We used a star shape icing tip to avoid the cupcakes looking like poos. No one wants to eat a cake that looks like one of those.
