Here's a graphic that does a better job of conveying the point than my original post: even by the (insane) standards of the first Trump administration, #SCOTUS is receiving—and granting—a truly unprecedented number of applications for emergency relief from the federal government:
A chart that shows the number of emergency applications filed and granted by the Supreme Court during each presidency dating back to George W. Bush, with the data annualized to show the far-higher frequencies since 2017, but especially during the Trump I and Trump II administrations.

All the partisan gerrymandering was always (in part) racial gerrymandering, because the parties' politics were always (in part—but large part) about race. So when you tell Southern legislatures "you can do partisan gerrymandering, but no racial gerrymandering," they know it means they can do both.

Partisan gerrymandering is a seawall against the opposition party. It stops normal tides. A tsunami of turnout comes right over top of that seawall.

Nothing in Louisiana law gives the Governor any authority to cancel an already ongoing election. Declaring an "emergency" based on a SCOTUS decision is a flagrant abuse of power, made all the worse because he's doing it to disenfranchise Louisiana's Black voters. www.axios.com/local/new-or...

Don't look at the Court's correct ruling on tariffs and what I anticipate to be a correct striking down of the birthright citizenship executive order as evidence of a moderate Supreme Court. The Justice have done, and continue to do, lots of mischief, including accreting more power for themselves.

I know it's frustrating when lawyers point out when something the administration is doing is not legal. But responding with "the law doesn't matter anymore" is really unhelpful and defeatist. Clarifying the law is important because it reminds us not to comply in advance and to resist and take action
