JWST/MIRI vs Hubble 🔭 Here is the NGC-4490 galaxy, the Cocoon Galaxy, seen in waaaaay different wavelengths: mid-infrared on the left; visible on the right. The difference is striking! JWST/MIRI: flic.kr/p/2qyzor8 Hubble: flic.kr/p/2qyEh9n

An elongated galaxy seen in mid infrared. Dust and cold gas appear there in red-ish colors. The center of the galaxy appears blue, with many stars looking like white dots.

In the visible spectra, the galaxy still looks elongated but the spiral arms can be spotted easily. They appear red. The center is bright and white. Blue patches can be seen in the arms, where star clusters are located.

I always enjoy being out there at night. It seems so peaceful. With a dark sky location, the milky way can be seen from horizon to horizon. This image was made from the Florida National Scenic Trail in North Florida. #photography #astrophotography #starry #milkyway

This is a picture of the milky way photographed over a blue body of water and pine trees with saltmarsh grass.

It seems these guys are among the most charismatic of mushrooms- they certainly are visually striking! #fungifriends

Four amanitas are visible, some just starting to emerge from the first duff, but the one in front has stayed to lengthen it's stem and spread its cap. We can see that we're looking under the branches of some conifer that's shaded out any plants that wanted to grow under its branches, and in the back ground, we can see some sedges growing out of very wet soil.

I went to a pop-up holiday market and this white lady selling hand made ceramic earrings was proudly displaying the political message left by an assassin on bullet casings after a successful murder so that’s a bit of a data point for Where Things Are

A table at a craft fair-type event shows ceramic items for sale, including earrings, a smiley face spoon, and other knickknacks. There are ceramic letters on the table spelling out “deny depend depose”. The artist is a white woman in glasses standing proudly with her work.

This image, captured by the James Webb Space Telescope's Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI), showcases the barred spiral galaxy NGC 4490, also known as the "Cocoon Galaxy." The image reveals a vibrant display of star formation, with young, hot stars illuminating clouds of gas and dust in hues of red and orange. The galaxy's intricate structure, including its prominent bar and spiral arms, is highlighted in stunning detail. NGC 4490 is located approximately 65 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.

Imagine caring more about "taxes" than keeping people in your community alive. All healthcare should be free and all medication / treatment accessible for all. Thinking otherwise is both homicidal and suicidal. If your country can afford to have billionaires, it can afford to provide for everyone.
