If you cut service, fewer people will take transit. Fewer people taking transit means more people driving 251

The reality -- "electeds, planners, and most of the public believed that the car was the future and rail transit was outdated" is actually more unsettling since it raises the question of what we're getting wrong now. 526043

We have reams of data from government and private sources, along with endless anecdotes of people negotiating down their rent over the last two years. but whatever man 610318

But we can't just let a few tower developments be the only housing we build. The Villages Plan would have ended the apartment ban in many transit friendly areas. We need to keep fighting for it. 1473

But this week reaffirmed why that approach is so baked into the DNA and political culture of Vancouver. 822335

Much harder: “so, Italy and Korea and others build transit more cheaply. Yes, that much cheaper. It’s because of consultants and risk management and standardization and overbuilt stations…” 1324930

I am not saying it's beyond reproach, but it's a masterclass in pragmatism! 89313

I'm totally in favour of seeing how we can enable more family-sized units: single-stair, low/mid-rises legalized on more land, etc. But the idea that small apartments are bad or don't help, or that we should just mandate larger apartments — I'm not comfortable with that. 5787
