I can only imagine that some PCQ will cross the floor at the first occasion they have to taste power. Others will vote for the racist laws the PQ is bound to put out and prop it up for a bit.

That's kind of my thought as well. Personal trust, relationships create a kind of accountability that isn't possible with the scale that most free tools are at.

As a researcher, I have other people's sensitive, emotionally valuable data. I have local storage, of course. But there is a part that my team works on together. My university would now store it on Microsoft's US servers and I'm looking to pull it to a secure location. How would cDox handle this?

As a researcher and writer, I'm concerned about my intellectual property. I'm used to this by now: promises are made one day, then the ToS change. I'm hoping my work won't be used to train Gen AI or other similar machines, and that it will remain private as long as it's on your servers.

Merci Barry. You have me sold on the simple and sleek layout, and on the Canadian servers. I appreciated your approach in the interview too. It's hard to assume good faith in tech, others might have ruined that for you, so I appreciate you reaching out. I do have a few questions:

This disconnect from reality and abject failure to LISTEN to people, in order to uplift institutional agendas IS WHY the public has lost trust in higher education. The pattern is everywhere: SA cases everywhere, student debt crisis, public engagement. It’s not rocket science. It’s failure.

And in Canada everything is the same. Exoneration or consequenceless consequences, pushing law "enforcement" aside, forcing women to try to cope with the assault and the lack of response or just dropping out. Tuition keeps rolling in, donations keep rolling in - because the image is "managed."

I hope Carney and the premiers know that they are destroying higher education rather quickly. This is bad for youth, and bad for research and innovation. I hope they know this because if they're not purposefully destroying, then they are incredibly incompetent and stubborn. Somehow that's scarier.

I remain astounded at the failure of universities, as supposed centres for critical enquiry, to challenge the ideological capture of AI. The only AI policy that is ethical, fair and defensible for students is an outright ban on its use.

I really hate the framing of these stories as "an AI agent broke out and hacked something." No, an inadequate sandbox meant that a powerful and unpredictable computer program was set loose on the open internet by the company that designed it. The agency isn't with the "AI agent", it's with the firm

Every time someone shows up half-apologetically, half-proud with "I just put this into [LLM chatbot]" it's nonsense we all have to spend more time making sense of and adjusting to. We prepare for meetings so they run well, we prepare agendas so we can prepare for meetings. This sets us off course.

Carney is now set to trample on rights, destroy ecosystems, and devastate the fight against climate change for his projects. So I guess it’s important that he rewrite history in this way, lest he see his own reflection in elements of history that we’ve rightfully condemned!

Our Conservative Prime Minister constantly relies on the old talking points. He gets to live Stephen Harper's dream: he doesn't have to deal with the fringe right wing and his anti-immigration, anti-Indigenous, exploitative and oppressive policies float right through approval after approval.

Disturbing, offensive, but perhaps fitting that Carney is seeking (much like far-right groups!) to rehab Sir John A’s reputation into that of a Great Uniter, rather than someone who engaged in horrific crimes against Indigenous people and Chinese immigrants (in part to build this project!)
