I realized I was acceptable collateral damage in the war between Drs and insurance companies. I decided death would be better than continuing to pay for "care." I rejected everything health care professionals told me I needed to do. Stopped all meds/tx. My health improved exponentially. A thread...

Hmmph. Crazy ultra-left eco-presbyterian chicks are a thing, and I'm one of them. Finding your people is kinda fascinating. And awesome. I think. Maybe. Right?!?

I just made enemies at church by telling the elders, "The measure of your character isn't how successful you were during good times, but how humane you are during bad ones." Sometimes I'm way too good at pissing people off.

The point at which a sane, morally principled award winning teacher who is angry about school shootings picks up a gun and thinks it’s the only way to make a difference is a bad place to be in. Dismissing him as a crazy person and blaming Dems is disingenuous and dishonest

European castle gardens have been sold to us as the ideal: always in full bloom, perfectly trimmed & no bugs. Today, companies can make big $$ helping us keep up this non-natural arrangement. It's time to break this unsustainable cycle & support native birds & pollinators with native plant habitats.

The biggest stumbling block we have to social change in the US is a cultural tendency to defer to power. We expect other people—specifically, those already in power—to save us. We can change a lot just by taking stock of the power we have ourselves and living the values we wish everyone had.

Longmont food rescue holds two free produce in the park events each month. All are welcome!
Text is the same as the postWe are continuing with a hybrid model for 2023: Produce in the Parking Lot on 2nd Sundays, Produce in the Park on 4th Sundays. No forms to fill out or questions asked. We strive for equity at all of our distributions. Food is a variety of fresh fruit, vegetables, prepared deli foods, dairy, and bakery items, depending on that week's donations. We will distribute food as long as supplies last.

For details on the next event, please follow Longmont Food Rescue on Facebook. We create a Facebook event for every public food distribution, listing the location, day, time, and other pertinent information.

Events take place year-round in rain/shine/snow – any weather! We only cancel for extreme weather conditions for the safety of our volunteers. Updates can always be found on our Facebook.

Thank You For Following These Guidelines

I got to sort iceberg lettuce at the food bank today. Some heads were edible, some were dripping slime balls. When a box flap covered in lettuce slime flaps, it flings lettuce slime everywhere. It was my lucky day day, none got in my eyes or mouth. And we had lettuce for taco night.

From a former homeless gal, now a food bank volunteer: When you're down and out, you don't get many baking supplies, spices, greens, or protein. Everyone needs to nourish their happy w an occasional sweet, spice in their beans, and fiber for gut health. Nut bars = portable protein. TY donors!

It's election day! To all my fellow US folks: make sure you get out & vote. The eels demand it of you. Eels, of course, are citizens of the world. So they can't vote in local elections, and they have to rely on you to do it for them. Even if you won't vote for you, be a proxy vote for an eel! 🗃️🧪
Meme. Photograph of a New Zealand longfin eel underwater, looking expectantly at the camera. Despite not being a US citizen, this eel (we'll call him Vestiboing) is very concerned with the state of our politics. US policy sets the table for the world, and Vestaboing knows that only one of the major parties has anything like a passing interest in environmental conservation. Does he stand behind everything the Democratic Party does or says? Of course not. Does he wish for better national leadership in this time of trial and doubt? For sure. But will he let the perfect be the enemy of the good? No. He will not.

That is not the way with eels. Nor should it be the way with any of us.

Vestaboing's blue eye implore you. His fins float on currents of expectation. His nostrils are perky and hopeful. Don't crush his heart. Cast your vote for eels. For Vestaboing.

Meme text reads:
"It's eelection day!
Go vote!"
