I hate this, my least favourite way to wake up! I started sleeping with a pillow under my ribcage to give my shoulders space (if I roll over I no longer lie full force on my own arm) which has helped prevent it if that’s at all useful. Hope you can get some rest today

I read this as “post mortems can be solved with…” and it took me on a bit of a journey

Some people think that time is linear. Others that it's cyclical. Personally, I think you should start a union at your job.

I know :( i hit pockets here and there, but we still have the benefit of a very big ocean and you guys are well into a whole different place. We need to do what we can to help from here, including fighting the spread

Leo short for Leopard @leolastname.bsky.social · 21/01/2025

And honestly, they’re not really options, and it’s not an “or”. We need to do both, and we need to do them together

It was a movie set, they were packing it up, as we kept walking I spotted the small signs. We still didn’t slow down or talk until we got home. Even strangers we met later talked about it. Symbols mean what they mean. Today isn’t a movie set and I think we have eyes on how close it is. Two options.

No one stopped to ask what they were, if it was real, discuss what it could mean, offer an alternative interpretation. Dead silence, everyone knew, two options: get to safety or fight

I’ve never felt a whole street of people snap so immediately into laser focus - no one reacting outwardly until we had eyes on the threat, unspoken agreement to act normal together until we knew if it was far enough to escape or close enough to fight - not “is the danger here”, only “how close”

I was in Gdańsk in October and one warm, clear evening we were walking home when we turned a corner onto a new street and suddenly all the buildings around us were adorned with bright red swastika banners. Yesterday felt exactly like that

We're faced with an increasingly bold and dangerous political movement that says so many of us do not matter. Self care is a rebuke to this poisonous ideology. Do it out of spite, if nothing else. You deserve care. You deserve joy. Outlive the bastards.

Thank you so much. It’s a thankless job more often than not, particularly of late, but the amount of knowledge and change you will have made in those 30 years of mahi is immeasurable. I’m sorry your last day wasn’t a fanfare, but I hope it’s damn nice to wake up tomorrow much freer and franker

Thankful every day 😔🙏🏻 blessed

I have generated a version of “the silent protector” meme format from 2016. It depicts a sleeping child in bed, labelled “oh what a shame so much history is gone forever, I wonder what I’ve lost”. Kneeling above them is a soldier with arms outstretched, bleeding and on fire in several places, labelled “2015 me, burning all prior accounts to the ground”, protecting the sleeping child from a rain of bullets and missiles labelled “is feeling so random XD all ur base *glomp* I 4m t3h 133t h4xx0rz hehe” to indicate I have been spared the horrors of how I’m certain I talked on Facebook in 2006

The more authors you read, the less chance one of them becomes load-bearing. Any one author could crumble away and you're fine, you can point to a dozen others who are doing the same thing. Even if it's an author like Terry Pratchett, spreading that parasociality out is never gonna be a bad thing
