Dendrochronology has shown these large oaks were growing between 2589BC and 2308BC - bridging the end of the Neolithic and the beginning of the Bronze Age. 0317

In contrast to the waterlogged deposits above, this soil has very poor preservation qualities (no wood & pollen is scarce) - this a is testament to the soil's 'dry' terrestrial history. 1357
