New study by Werner et al. quantifying impact of model resolution for large-scale ice cover modelling (e.g. Icefields) with IGM. doi.org/10.5194/tc-2... We find coarse resolution creates much bias and impact of increasing res. on ice volume and speed is non-linear: more of a step-wise function

Using the same concept, in a follow-up study (Kreuzer et al), we explore how relative sea-level change can affect sub-shelf melting. 🌊 Sea-level shifts can alter ocean access to grounding lines ❄️ But its melt impact is small compared to climate-driven changes. 👉 tc.copernicus.org/articles/19/...

📣 New paper: Where do we want the glaciological community to be in 2073? Some context: The Karthaus summer school is an occasion where parts of our research community comes together — In 2023, I was lucky to participate myself and it was the year in which a new workshop was included in the program.
