It is with great sadness that SCAR shares the news of the death of Prof Peter Barrett, who passed away in Christchurch, NZ, on 26 September 2026. Peter was a founding figure of modern Antarctic Earth science, a generous mentor & a valued friend to the SCAR community for more than four decades.
