The horrific failed and botched execution attempt in Tennessee last night lays bare the cruelty of the death penalty. Christa Pike's attorneys challenged the state's ability to safely execute her, to no avail. She remains hospitalized. We must end the death penalty. #christapike #deathpenalty

"Israel:

You'll Find It Here

Israel is a country shaped by ancient traditions and diverse cultures, where every region offers a distinctly different atmosphere. You can spend the morning walking ancient pilgrimage sites, the afternoon floating in serene waters or relaxing on the coast, and the evening eating your way through vibrant market stalls before heading out for a night that ends when the sun rises.

From sacred sites to desert adventures, these guides offer different ways to explore the country. There’s no single right way to experience it, so follow what interests you, mix and match along the way, and leave some room to wander."

Also includes a disclaimer from LATimes:

TIL about the Polybius urban legend. Portland friends, have you heard of this? The myth is that a mysterious game appeared in Portland arcades. It disoriented users or gave them seizures. Men in suits would periodically check the game cabinets. And then it disappeared. I love Portland lore.

The sprawl in the Denver suburbs is outrageous. We are locking in decades of car dependency with soul-sucking suburbia. Anyone on Bluesky have the inside baseball on Colorado land use?

Since bluesky is talking about land use today here's a useful map. An enormous amount of land/water/emissions are associated with animal agriculture (mostly beef).
A map of the contiguous US with areas grouped by land use based on total acreage. Cow pasture/range is the largest. Livestock feed also uses more area than all the food we actually eat.

The Neoliberal Grid is in Crisis
To protect customers from rising electricity prices, public officials are urging data center developers to supply their own power. But this approach risks privatizing the power grid…

DoorDash messed up.
They repeatedly left more than 260,000 NYC delivery workers underpaid or paid late, causing them immense stress and financial difficulty.
That's unacceptable.
We've secured a $131.5M settlement from

100% When you expect an electoral tidal wave, it gives you more room to push for what you really want. So it's revealing that many Dems are doing anti-trans stuff instead of, idk, universal healthcare? Or maybe something considered "riskier" electorally like prison reform (e.g. abolish solitary).

Agree 100%. Also just want to note that while the solar resource in the America Southwest is exceptional, it's not bad in other parts of the country either. Compare the US with Europe and China. We should be building solar practically everywhere.

Africa has very high values as well as the middle east and australia. The Tibetan plateau, parts of South America and the SW US and Mexico have high values as well. Almost all of the lower 48 of the US has higher irradiance than Europe
