It also felt like I hadn’t lost my human agency in doing it this way because I had led on the design. #LTHEchat

Honestly, it is a game changer. I was developing this model where I wanted Greek-style columns to prop up this overall concept (which was the roof). I honestly had no idea how to describe it so I just hand drew the whole thing and Gemini did a perfect job of making it digital. #LTHEchat

I love sketchnoting. I’ve finally invested in a Kindle Scribe so I can be digital and draw-y. The ability to use colour is a game changer. #LTHEchat

I love the careful use of animation to real bits in time, and fade other bits out when done. Sadly, I see it done BADLY far more than I see it done well 😞 #LTHEchat

A6: In the new year on another module, we use design thinking. So we encourage drawing and diagrams and prototypes in workshops. All of that can be photographed and submitted to their portfolio of evidence and graded. They can even get marks for discarded ideas. #LTHEchat

A6: different - not sure as I do a lot. But I have a few fun assessments coming up. One is highly visual — but we don’t assess the quality of the visual, just the communication. It removes a bit of pressure for students and gives them chance to experiment. #LTHEchat

Our student & this blogger: noblechloe.wordpress.com/first-year-l... undertook a research project on notemaking strategies & discovered students lacked the self-efficacy to draw even intheir own notes. We had to build up their visual confidence slowly over time, Chloe helped w this blog! #LTHEChat

It’s works so well. Maybe you struggle to prompt what you want. Or maybe you are not a confident drawer, but can do enough to get a message across. I’ve really enjoyed this human + AI approach in prototyping. I cover it a lot within design thinking. #LTHEchat

A4: I feel like I’ve spent a decade campaigning for better visual literacy alongside @jaxbartram.bsky.social. I hate how much prominence there is to academic, information, digital - and now AI literacy. Visual literacy is a core part of this all #LTHEchat

A3: had to cheat a bit on this @lthechat.bsky.social - no paper to hand, only mobile. So described my model to Gemini. Prompts in the alt text. #LTHEchat (You get the idea. And the irony. Don’t fully stand by the image as I gave the AI the liberty to enhance the points)
Make a version of the icebergmodel for me. Make it look hand drawn with ink and colouring pencils.

The top is depicting AI use in higher education . Above the water.

Beneath the water are the causes.
Pressure - everyone else is using it
Confidence - I can’t write well
Silicon Valley tech bros pushing an agenda
Prominence. It is everywhere.
You can get away with it.

/// add a few more items to that list.

It highlights how students can contribute not only to local enhancement projects but also to institutional and sector-wide change, while developing valuable skills, confidence, networks and scholarly identities along the way.

Now at the end, I can now fully endorse self-indexing, even if it wasn't the most enjoyable bit of producing a book. 😅 The one bit of learning I'd certainly take from this - it takes much longer than you think. (4/4)

Indexing helped me discover new routes through the material we've written (that I hadn't considered before, such as a software-led approach) - and even more importantly, it helped us identify a few inconsistencies in how we'd presented some terms. (3/4)
