Trump is signing an executive order today recommending that the MMR vaccine be separated into separate vaccines. There is no scientific basis for this recommendation. Separate measles, mumps and rubella vaccines are generally not available in the U.S. Vaccines do not cause autism.

Day 3 of the move. Day 1 was packing (professionals), Day 2 was loading (pros) and driving 7h, and today is unloading and unpacking. I'm mentally exhausted.

The #packing has commenced. In less than 48h, I'll be back in my hometown. In spite of my planning, I'm still panicked. Stupid human physiology and psychology. #MarylandGirl

My pet peeve with target trial emulation. It presumes a clinical trial provides the best evidence for a question. Why do we pin good design and methodology to clinical trials? It's absurd! There have been tons of problematic and biased trials. Can we reframe it to a more reasonable anchor?

I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

Ticks don't discriminate and awareness shouldn't either. See how ticks and tick bites can appear across different skin tones, and learn what to watch for after spending time outdoors. Save and share to help spread awareness.
you know what public health doesn't talk enough about?
ticks on different skin tones.

picture of 9 skin tones with the same small tick on it. Let's look at tick bites on different skin tones, too.

I think we have a 'quality crisis'. Being able to replicate poor quality and biased research does not reassure me very much at all. Structural biases replicate. Observational health research is full of examples of wrong answers being replicated across many samples and contexts.

THREAD: Cherise Doyley was in her 12th hour of contractions at the hospital when a tablet was brought to her bedside. On the screen was a Zoom call with a judge and several lawyers and doctors. She was in court, a nurse told her. The reason? For failing to agree to a C-section.

The data is in: the NIH goalposts have shifted. What were once almost certain fundable scores have become coin flips and what used to be likely grants have become aspirational, leading to fewer awards. Another manifestation of how HHS policies have led to fewer awards and less science.
Graph of award probability of R35 and R01 from NIH factbook as a function of review rank percentile. As is apparent, 2025 is a significant departure, with lower award probabilities at all scores <40 and significant departures from norm, where even being in the top 10% is no longer a nearly certain indicator of success.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.” That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.
