I keep posting about this on my IG feed and honestly the only friends who respond at all are either queer people or fellow parents of trans kids. My cis middle-aged friends who are liberal (though generally not progressive) are mostly silent. It's exhausting and infuriating.

These are just outright lies. Surgeries are extremely rare as part of gender affirming care for people under 18 y.o. And RFK claims medical centers were making "billions and billions of dollars" off of them? They'll really just say anything at all.

For us what mattered most was balancing out the screen time with other kinds of experiences--playing outside, reading books, making stuff (food, crafts, etc.), gardening and other hobbies. What's cool is that they often use YouTube to learn more about their IRL interests.

It's v tiring being the parent of trans kids rn. I'll mention to friends that my kids can't do something or go somewhere safely and I get blank stares or, worse, disbelieving looks. I get that they aren't living our reality but many don't seem all that interested.

Because the parasite (oocyst) is especially sticky/clingy and hides in grooves of vegetables and fruits. Also it has a hard "shell" that makes it impervious to soap, vinegar, and bleach.

Cyclists disobeying traffic laws are a massive problem here in NYC. I have started avoiding Prospect Park on the weekends because any relaxation gained is offset by the stress of nearly getting hit by spandex weekend warriors or e-Citibike riders who haven't been on a bike since they were kids.
