I'm puzzled by this passage from Tom Edsall. What are some examples of the "Democratic Party" succumbing to "left-wing orthodoxies." How does this apply to the Biden administration's legislation, including the Inflation Reduction Act, the American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure Act, the CHIPS Act?

The Republican Party is dominated by a president beneath contempt who reigns over a collection of spineless sycophants.

In the face of this opposition, the Democratic Party has repeatedly failed to stand tall, all too willing to succumb to left-wing orthodoxies that alienate the average voter.
