Point A is the one I think people should talk about more. If I prompt a chatbot to give me ideas about something and it does, that’s one thing. What I want is an email an hour later from the chatbot saying, “I just thought of something else about your prompt.”

Good point regarding externalities. I mean I am intentionally burning tokens so renewing the subscription doesn’t look so good to decision makers. The AI companies lose money on every use, so heavy use for evaluation could help drive the AI company out of business.

People forget that Musk didn’t buy Twitter to turn it into Radio Rwanda, he did that later. He didn’t want to buy Twitter at all, he made a joke offer to avoid SEC action and Twitter sued him to force him to go through with the deal. Musk fought like hell to avoid owning Twitter.
