Had dinner tonight with a friend who goes every day with a bunch of other septuagenarians to be “observers” at the immigration courts. ICE thugs routinely throw them out out of public courtrooms, and then public hallways, and then public waiting rooms as they grab immigrants who did nothing wrong.

Going back to 1990, the median league leading HRs by a catcher is 29, with a standard deviation of 7.19.

Cal at 60 HR is 4.31 standard deviations above the median. The probability of this happening is 0.001%, or a 1 in 100,000 chance.

Judge is no slouch either: his OPS is 1.66 standard deviations above the median, 4.85% probability, or 1 in 21 chance. A fantastic year, but it pales in comparison to what Cal is doing as a catcher.
