I have never felt more hopeless as a disabled advocate than I do right now. We are being fucked over, and nobody is listening. We are throwing everything we have at being heard, and it's not working. I don't know what more the community can do.

The lack of disabled voices in the budget discussions is so demoralising. It's all carers, and how difficult it is for them to care for disabled loved ones. What is the point of dedicating yourself to advocacy if nobody wants us in the room?

he's saying the right words about co-design, but it is difficult to have much confidence when the starting point – a one-off lump sum only for people on disability allowance – is a fundamental misunderstanding of what a cost of disability payment is and not what DPOs advocated in our submissions

Between myself and my husband, the lump sum will cover our winter energy bill, but that's it. It shouldn't be restricted to just those in receipt of DA, which is a very high threshold in the first place that people rarely get on their first application.

Would you like to be a Legal Observer? Our next training is on Thurs 15 Oct in Galway, 6pm-9pm. We'll cover everything you need to know including the role, responsibilities and the relevant criminal law on the right to protest and public order. @illanwall.bsky.social @emilywilliams19.bsky.social

"Become a Legal Observer
Training session in Galway City
Thursday 15 October, 6pm-9pm
For more info, see iccl.ie"Image featuring text:

"What is a legal observer?
Legal observers are trained to monitor, document and film the policing of protests to ensure that gardaí are operating within the law.

Legal observers are independent and do not take part in the protest. They focus on the rights of those involved, rather than the issue that is being protested.

They’re also recognised human rights defenders by the United Nations, meaning there is an obligation to permit legal observers to fulfil their role unhindered under international law."Image featuring text:

"Who can be a legal observer?

Anyone who is interested in becoming a legal observer, attends one of our trainings, and upholds the terms of participation joins the Irish Network of Legal Observers.

The training takes place in-person and is about three hours long. Participants learn about the role, their responsibilities and the relevant criminal law concerning the right to protest and public order.

The Irish Network of Legal Observers does not support groups that infringe on or undermine the rights of others."Image featuring text:

"Interested?

To sign up for our next training in Galway on Thursday 15 October, contact Emily Williams on: emily.williams@iccl.ie.

If you’re interested in becoming a legal observer, but can’t attend our next training, don’t worry. We hold regular trainings around the country and advertise them on our website and social media channels.

To learn more about the Irish Network of Legal Observers (an initiative led by ICCL and Dr Illan rua Wall of the Irish Centre for Human Rights, University of Galway), visit iccl.ie."

It's extremely important that trans people unionise. Regardless of the jobs we're in we need to do this. In an Irish context you have a constitutional right to be in a union. You don't have to tell your employer. Contact ictu who will tell you what union you should join and go ahead and do it.

Once again it needs to be stressed that this is something happening across the board in Irish immigration- changes in practice leading to refusals that would not have occurred in previous years. We are in a very dark time for the rights of people migrating to Ireland and their families.

Happy Michaelmas! In some parts of Ireland on this day, rent could be paid in geese. If you’re due to pay rent this month, please consider setting a very irritated goose on your landlord in lieu of payment, in the name of upholding important Irish traditions.
A drawing of mine of a goose looking concerned, with a tag around its neck that reads "This month's rent, with thanks".

Also people, often outsiders or naïve, who are suggesting people just suck it up and let 35 men walk down the road, you are missing a context of decades of marches being deliberately routed through Catholic areas. Causing so much historical violence and contributing to the outbreak of the Troubles.

Police in full riot gear are now exiting Land Rovers, so I assume a forced removal is about to happen. The PSNI triggered a mutual aid protocol earlier this week, and obtained 200 additional officers from Police Scotland. What they’re facing are regular civilians peacefully standing on a road.

The FAI repeatedly told us players would be protected. Yet when a 24 year old acted on his conscience, they left him to stand alone & used a vote among his teammates to validate their own cowardice. This isn’t protecting a young player, it’s protecting themselves at his expense. #StopTheGame

Hear us Now! at the 15th annual March for Choice, this September 26th in Dublin. Meet us at 2pm outside the Department of Health before we march to the Dáil. Share this post far and wide and show your interest by clicking "interested" on our facebook event page, link in our tree.
Square illustrated image split into 4 horizontal sections. The is a collaged image, two figures in the centre in teal and pale purple. Their eyes and mouths are from different people and are much larger, and jump off the faces. They are saying "Hear us Now!" in black and white ransom style font. The backgrounds of these are cone shaped speech bubbles, they are both patterned with interlocking points in shades of teal, purple and yellow. The ARC logo is to the right of the two figures in the centre.
The next section says "15th annual March for Choice" in white font outlined in black, with a similar pattern to the speech bubble behind it.
The next horizontal says "Saturday September 26th 2026" in black against a see-through white rectangle, that you can see the pattern through.
The last section is a teal rectangle with rounded ends and says "When: 2pm, Where: Dept of Health Lower Baggot Street"
