I, too, feel revulsion over recent events. But part of me also feels anger that so few people even seem aware of the fact that Trump carried out 13 executions in the last 6 months of his first term. I was in Terre Haute, IN for all of them. And for much of that time, they felt utterly invisible.

DS9's biggest misstep was creating Section 31 instead of just using Starfleet Intelligence to make the same critiques. A group that followed a secret extra section of the Federation constitution that did whatever Starfleet was too moral to do was always going to be catnip for bootlickers.

You are wishcasting a scenario where Israel is left untouched and Palestine is a Bantustan totally at the mercy of Israel (and maybe Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan too) which is both at least as bad as the status quo for Palestinians and something Israel would violently reject.
