A study in Nature Medicine identified tissue-specific signs of aging and then paired it with transcriptomic data from blood to develop aging clocks that reflect tissue structural integrity and organ-level physiological fitness in health and disease. go.nature.com/4zthv0F #medsky 🧪
This is figure 1, which shows assessment of biological age and pathological alterations in human tissues via histopathology.

5-year-old brain organoids can sense the passing of time | New Scientist
Brain organoids have been grown and studied for five years, the longest time to date, and their activity suggests they had a sense of time going by

A human corticospinal organoid-slice connectoid model informs enhancer strategies for post-injury axon regrowth

A human corticospinal organoid-slice connectoid model informs enhancer strategies for post-injury axon regrowth
Gibbons et al. present a human corticospinal organoid slice-based connectoid model, with physically separate but functionally coupled cortical and spinal regions. Allowing cell-type-specific observations, the platform uncovers a developmental maturation-dependent decline in human axon regeneration and a transcriptional program intrinsic to cortical projection neurons that, when targeted, promotes repair post-injury.

When the #spinalcord is damaged, the resulting #paralysis is usually considered permanent. Now, a new #research approach using lab-grown organoid models led by @lakatoslab.bsky.social from 🇬🇧 @cam.ac.uk suggests that it actually might be reversed.

Congratulations to George, Andras, @lakatoslab.bsky.social and collaborators for the publication of the human motor axis in dish! As a neurologist, it was amazing to see the corticospinal tract in vitro and how it can reveal new strategies for axon regrowth after injury. www.cell.com/cell-reports...
