This should be so obvious that it doesn’t need to be said, but given what kind of weekend it’s been on here, apparently it does: If you don’t want old rapists running the world, in office, in the board room, making decisions for all of us get comfortable with “ruining” young rapists’ lives

“How small are you willing to make your world until everyone agrees with you?” That’s a genius question, although I’ll bet the intended recipients will have trouble processing it. Thanks for sharing.

In 1974, Cornell lecturer Lin Farley began recognizing a pattern in the experiences women shared in her Women and Work course: women were being pushed out of jobs by men’s sexual behavior. Farley coined the term, “sexual harassment.”

This story, about the links between the top Alberta independence social media account and a well known separatist leader that I did with @jeffyates.bsky.social, has been pretty well read today. There have also been some common questions, so I'm going to add my 2 cents! www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
cbc.ca
It’s the biggest Alberta separatist account on the internet. It shares DNA with a movement leader | CBC News
The account Rise of Alberta is anonymous and drives four times as much engagement as the next most popular account.

Attention shoppers: I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with me.
CBC story with the headline "50-storey towers, new security approach part of developer’s plans for Edmonton City Centre" and an excerpt that reads: "Let’s just try this: at every entrance, at every pedway, we are going to put four security guards and a police officer there, a metal detector and a bag scan,” he is heard saying in the video recorded of the session on Monday.
“If you look like you should not belong at the City Centre mall, you’re not working there, providing services or spending money, you’re not coming in.”
When asked by reporters Tuesday about his plans for security measures, Lam said those plans are still being determined and might change. He added plans could include more cameras and securing the open northwest parkade."

Medieval Hunting Deaths: A Thread Hunting could be very dangerous (not just for animals) in the Middle Ages. Accidents happened and everyone from kings and earls to lowly peasants could be killed by a stray arrow, a hanging branch or a wild animal defending itself. 🧵7
A man in blue awkwardly holds a bow in front of him. He appears to have misfired the arrow, which is up near his face and facing the wrong way.

There are about 5500 BEVs in Nove Scotia. At $500/2 years, this levy will raise about $1.4M per year. That’s not quite enough to pave 3 km of road. Less than. 3. Kilometres. But hey, on the plus side, we get to put the brakes on EV adoption, and stick it to those smug electric car-driving nerds!

I keep meeting smart informed Albertans who tell me they do not intend to vote, because they don’t want to legitimize the process, or because they know the premier is not bound by the results. But what if making us give up on voting is the whole point? My argument to vote - no matter the absurdity.

Is that the message you want to send?

Please read my former boss and old friend Nathaniel Raymond’s recent testimony to Parliament on how the world has so completely failed to protect Sudan’s civilians: committees.parliament.uk/writtenevide...
siege would last for over eighteen months-a period three times longer than the siege of Stalingrad and three quarters as long as the siege of Leningrad in World War II. HRL would issue a report almost every nine days during the siege for a total of nearly 70 reports by the time the city was fully surrounded by an earthen wall trapping those trying to flee." When El Fasher finally fell to the RSF after the defeat of the Sudan Armed Forces and Joint Forces militia in October 2025, RSF initiated the mass killing, rape, displacement, torture, and detention of tens of thousands of civilians, that RSF soldiers themselves would record on video and release on social media.'
iii
The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights concluded earlier this year that at least six thousand people were killed in the first six days of the massacre and the UN
Fact Finding Mission found in February that the killings bore the "hallmarks of genocide."v
HRL has assessed based on ground reports from human sources, UN figures, media reports by Sudanese journalists, and the analysis of over 150 piles consistent with clusters of human corpses that at least as many as 60,000 people may have been murdered between October and November in El Fasher. This number does not include those who died in attacks before the city fell to the RSF and those who died from starvation or disease.
To put this number in perspective, HRL's conservative estimate of those killed after the city fell to the RSF is six times that of the 1994 Srebrenica Genocide in Bosnia, twenty times 9/11, and higher than the initial death toll after the 1945 atomic detonation in Nagasaki.
Multiple months of the burning and burial of corpses by the RSF, clearly visible in satellite imagery, will likely make full accounting of the dead impossible.
