Update on this: I received my ballot on Friday, Sep 18, I managed to get it dropped in the mail on Wednesday, Sep 23 (so would have been picked Sep 24) and it was received and cast yesterday, Oct 2:

Outstanding ad to he served while reading this article:
A screenshot of some text from an article and an ad on the same article. The text reads, "But there were other issues -- including made up caselaw."

The ad below it is for a product by Thomson Reuters called CoCounsel Legal, which the ad claims is "Built on authoritative content and legal expertise". Below that, the ad reads, "AI lawyers swear by".

I love infrastructure projects, but I have to say, there's something hilarious about the visual of how many road disruptions there are city-wide right now. 😛
A screenshot of a map of the City of Edmonton showing traffic disruptions. There are icons all over the place.

Uh, YouTube? That's... Not CBC...
A screenshot from the YouTube app showing a sponsored post from an organization called "weddingjump". The image is of someone who looks like Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in handcuffs being escorted by law enforcement. The image has red and white CBC News branding along with a "Live" indicator. A banner at the top reads "WHAT REALLY HAPPENED I THAT MOMENT? THE TRUTH IS FINALLY COMING OUT". The post's title is: "Everyone is asking what happened to him," below which is printed, "Watch one of the most talked about moments of the year." [sic.]

I found this package of napkins and now I need to figure out how to automatically mail one to anyone melting down in Cait's mentions...
A novelty napkin featuring an illustration of a woman with the caption:

"I'm sorry your day is ruined.

By someone on the internet.

That you don't actually know."

As an aside, my son wishes this version of the Mojang logo/jingle played when loading normal Minecraft (like Dungeons and Legends)

S. 25(3) of the Criminal Code often tends to slip below the radar:
When not protected

(3) Subject to subsections (4) and (5), a person is not justified for the purposes of subsection (1) in using force that is intended or is likely to cause death or grievous bodily harm unless the person believes on reasonable grounds that it is necessary for the self-preservation of the person or the preservation of any one under that person’s protection from death or grievous bodily harm.

Not sure why, but I have this feeling that Justin Trudeau is going to be making an announcement at his residence at 10:45 EST...
A screenshot of four skeets in a row from my timeline of people saying, in their own words, that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is making an announcement at Rideau Cottage at 10:45 EST.

From Charles Viner's A General Abridgment of Law and Equity
An excerpt of an old book under the heading *Constable. The text reads "* Decennarius prima facie is the same with a constable, and differed little in the execution of that office, concerning keeping the peace, yet Hale said, he was not the same officer. Vent. 170 per Cur. Mich. 23 Car. 2. B. R. in case of Waldion v. Ruscarrit.- In some places they have tithingmen and no constables. Per Hale Ch. J. and Lambard, 14. being cited, that the constable and tithingman are all one, Hale said that so it is in some places; that praepositus is the proper word for a constable, and decennarius for a tithingman. Mod. 78. Pl. 38 Mich. 22 Car. 2. B. R. in S. C. - High-Constable was an officer at common law before the statute of Winton as well as a petit-constable, and they are officers of the justices of the peace; per Cur. 1 Salk. 175. in the case of the Queen v. Wyatt.-2. Ld. Raym. 1192, 1193. Trinn. 4 Ann. in case of the Queen v. Wyatt, Powell J. says, that my Ld. Coke, 4 Inst. 267. says, that a constable of a hundred was not an officer at common law, but created by the statute of Winchester; but Powell J. held, that he was an officer at common law, and the statute of Winchester only enlarged his authority in some particulars; and so it was held by my Ld. Ch. J. Hale, in the case of THE KING v. KING, and the case of THE KING v. SAMOIS, Hill. 16 & 17 Jac. cited for it; and the new authority which was given the by the statute of Winchester was what occasioned the mistake; and so they are officers of the peace, and officers to the justices of peace, where no particular officer is named.

1. The Constable is the keeper of the peace, that is to say, the high-constable for the hundred, and the petit-constable in the town. Kitch. of Courts, 97. cites 12 H. 7. sol. 38.

Since this all blew up from a weird incorrect applying of motives to one of @juicysteak117.gay's posts, I am going to double-down and accuse them of violating the Canada Elections Act, which is exactly as useful and relevant as the criticism seems to have been.
A screenshot of a portion of the Canada Elections Act from the website canlii.org:

The heading states: "Photograph, video or copy of marked ballot"

The body reads:

"281.8(1) No person shall

(a) take a photograph or make a video recording of a ballot or special ballot that has been marked, at an election, by an elector;

(b) make a copy, in any manner, of any ballot or special ballot that has been marked, at an election, by an elector; or

(c) distribute or show, in any manner, to one or more persons, a photograph, video recording or copy of a ballot or special ballot that has been marked, at an election, by an elector."

@haileyok.com I'm seeing a weird UI overlapping going on with links and messages in DMs -- is this known?

I don't know why, but the amount of engagement in the tiny amount of time just feels hilarious to me. I love this site.
A screenshot of a post by Paul Frazee (@pfrazee.com) which says, "Who else here made out with the Duolingo owl". The post was made four minutes before the screenshot was taken, and this is underlined in blue. Also underlined in blue are the engagement stats: the post has 105 replies, 22 repost, and 263 likes.

@pfrazee.com do you have any idea why a post shared via DM might randomly decide to be tiny? This doesn't affect usability at all since I can still tap the post to view it - I've just never seen this before and think it's hilarious. 😛

@haileyok.com Do we know why sharing posts via DM on Android (or, at least, some Androids?) causes the UI layout to get, er, confused?

Easily the worst part about this bug was needing to search Bluesky in the Play Store only for this to pop up first 😡
A screenshot of "bluesky" typed into a search field on the Google Play store, with a Sponsored ad for Truth Social directly below it, and finally the actual Bluesky app listed below that.

I really don't understand this giant log file I've managed to create, but I'm getting a bit of a kick out of "WIN DEATH"
A line of text from VSCode that reads: 06-05 15:41:55.049  1000  1783  4275 I WindowManager: WIN DEATH: Window{42e924b u0 xyz.blueskyweb.app/xyz.blueskyweb.app.MainActivity}
