Listen: The Reflecting Pool debacle should be a dumb summer story, but it really demonstrates everything wrong with this era. Trump does something demonstrably wrong that we can see with our own damn eyes. People point that out. He threatens them with all forms of punishment at his disposal.

It’s worth noting that when Jan. 6 happened, the pro-Trump right used dozens of conspiracy theories to try and offload blame from themselves—e.g., claiming it was “antifa,” “feds.” Now, they seem keen to just admit they did it—all of it—and it was good.

Remember, Democrats have repeatedly advanced measures to ban partisan gerrymandering and Republicans have voted against them time after time. This is the game Republicans wanted to play. OK, then.

Two things can be true: Congress should pass uniform, national legislation reining in partisan gerrymandering; and Until that happens, or every state adopts an independent redistricting commission, neither party is going to (or, frankly, should) unilaterally disarm.

Senator Kelly is correct. Plus a Public Service Announcement: KEY section of Department of Defense's Law of War Manual is 18.3.2.1. The VERY rule on the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders gives as its paradigmatic example of what is "clearly illegal: "orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

Judge Katsas, useful idiot, this morning on left. AG Bondi this afternoon on right.
We turn next to the putative shutdown decision. The
plaintiffs point to no regulation, order, document, email, or
other statement, written or oral, purporting to shut down the
CFPB. Instead, they infer such an overarching decision from
various discrete “actions” taken by agency leadership to
downsize the Bureau, “including by issuing stop-work
instructions, cancelling contracts, declining and returning
funding, firing employees, and terminating the lease for its
headquarters.” J.A. 46–47. The district court found a “decision
to shut down the agency completely” and equated it to a
“wholesale cessation” of CFPB activities. NTEU, 774 F. Supp.
3d at 46.Tweet from AG Pam Bondi in which she says "Another victory for President Trump! In a 2-1 ruling, the DC Circuit sided with my @TheJusticeDepartment attorneys in our effort to dismantle the CFPB and rein in crippling Obama-era regulations."
