Finally reworking my rejected Views From the Overlook story. This story always wanted to be longer, and while a larger word count will make it harder to place, it's nice to be letting the seams out and allowing it to breathe. Changing or removing the many The Shining details, however, is a pain.

#NowReading Other Worlds Than These by @stephenking.bsky.social and Peter Straub I thought I was going to have to wait a bit to get my hands on this, but then a delivery box appeared in my room because my mom is the best! Also, I forgot to reread the others first, but I don't want to wait.
Most of the cover is so washed out it's nearly black and white. It shows a wooden shed in a cornfield with T3 above the double doors. One door is open and through it is a field of bright red roses beneath a vivid blue sky. A red man stands at the horizon with his back to us. The red bleeds a single line into the corn.

#NowReading @frostzonestories.bsky.social Book 4 edited by @lenemacleod.bsky.social I have the first story in this one, which had been one of my secret writer goals 🖤
The cover is an inverted black and white photo of some bleachers beside a fence with a large tree toward the back. Red and white leaves fall from the top to gather at the bottom. A metal trashcan has a skull and a pair of skeleton arms in it.

WAVE (1994) Acrylic on Canvas - 48” x 48” Of all the paintings hanging in my home, this one probably elicits the most comments. #art
An exponential curve expressed as a massive wave of green-blue water that climbs to vertical against a sky of puffy lavender clouds. Light breaks through the cloud cover just over the horizon casting a flat glare across rippling water before the wave climbs. Fin-like ridges emerge running up the wall give the water turbulence and dimension.

#NowReading The Perils of Lady Catherine de Bourgh by Claudia Gray I find these books delightful.
The book cover is low contrast pale green wallpaper. Four portraits of mostly silhouetted people in yellow frames adorn each corner with a fifth in the middle. The feathered shafts of three arrows stick out of the wall around the central portrait.

If you're wondering why authors are getting so rabid here: First Anthropic stole our books. Then we got denied compensation because of US unjust copyright law and publishers failing to meet their contractual obligations. Then publishers and agents apparently claimed author shares. Now this.
