WEHI researchers have found glycogen can be directly regulated using ubiquitin, in landmark findings published in Nature. The study transforms understanding into glycogen metabolism & could lead to new treatments for diseases caused by abnormal sugar storage. www.wehi.edu.au/news/sweet-d... 🧵1/2
This image shows human liver cells treated with a drug that induces glycogen ubiquitination. The bright white speckles appear where glycogen and ubiquitin overlap, indicating that glycogen has been tagged with ubiquitin inside the cells.

After a long (but fun!) postdoc journey, I am very excited to share that I will start my own lab in the Ubiquitin Signalling Division at WEHI. We will study how ubiquitin controls mitochondrial health and its role in neurodegenerative disease. Hiring soon!
