I encourage folks to join me in nominating @cdelawalla.bsky.social for a Rising Star award! It's the least we can do to honor her tireless fight to protect our field, and science more broadly, with @standupforscience.net. Importantly her academic and scholarly endeavors outside #SUFS shine as well!

It's Festivus, so I'm going to air some grievances. 1. If you're going to write a year end story about how scientists responded to authoritarianism and *NOT* include @standupforscience.bsky.social in the write up or cite that the photo you used as your header is from one of our rallies...that's bs.

Just recently, on linkedin, the former director of NASA GSFC said that more than 32% of the Goddard workforce is gone. 32% That is insane. They are destroying us completely.
Linkedin post from Makenzie Lystrup stating 'Goddard lost more than 32% of its workforce just since February. it's not limited to JPL or any one organization. we should be looking at the impacts across all science organizations.

Sometimes the _best_ way to agitate is with the absurd, like when Wavy Gravy would wear a clown costume to peace protests. He said he did it so the police would have to be seen beating up a clown.

physics of climate impacts 101: - Stuff gets hot (worse heatwaves) - Hot air holds more water vapor (heavier rainfall) - Hot air is thirstier air (higher drought risk) - Warm water is hurricane food (stronger storms) - Hot water expands and hot ice melts (sea level rise)
