Climate dependant of course. Despite what locals say, I find I can use an umbrella a hell of a lot more here than say, St John's, where (prior to me moving) was constantly windy. I find the rain is often vertical

Metrobus in St. John’s is reducing service on some bus routes from 30m frequency to 60 minutes, & some to peak times only due to “recruitment challenges” leading to a shortage of mechanics and bus drivers. A lot of this service was just increased in September & they’re already rolling it back.

After years of waiting, TU Delft is finally on the (tram) map. Yesterday, tram 19 reached the campus, and what a multimodal scene: trams, cycling, walking and green—all sharing the same car-free corridor. This is what a well-connected university looks like: making the right choice the easy choice.
A red and white tram passes cyclists riding on a protected bike lane with green space in between along a car-free corridor on the TU Delft campus.

In London, I came across this sign from the police asking the public for help investigating a crash. Seems like a sensible way to handle hit-and-runs, but I've never seen anything similar in the US.

There's a reason why Somerville hasn't had a traffic death in 4 years. The city isn't perfect, but they've made a concerted effort to design many streets around people and not cars. You can still drive, but you're going to have to do so slowly and while paying attention.

Somerville is intentionally making roads harder to drive on. It’s getting results. - The Boston Globe
To make roads safer, the city says, sometimes you have to put some obstacles in drivers' way.

Canadian public transit agencies should work more with the uitp (the international public transport association) and less with apta (the American public transport association), we just have so much to learn from the world and a lot of our mistakes are common with the US.

"But the handicapped need cars!" No, what they need are options in mobility. The tech exists to enable their freedom of independent mobility, but almost always what is lacking is the enabling infrastructure. Bike lanes and quality sidewalks serve everyone.

Monday morning outside Rotterdam Centraal, thousands of cyclists stream toward the station in a carefully choreographed flow. What you’re seeing is the power of systems thinking—the bicycle and train both succeed because they work together seamlessly, where each mode extends the reach of the other.

To carry 50,000 people per hour in each direction, a city needs a 175m wide road for cars. Even if those cars are electric. And then there’s all the parking. OR a city can move A LOT MORE people in a lot less space, with A LOT LESS public money, emissions, pollution, noise etc. Choices. Simple.
Graphic showing a single lane 9 m wide track for metros, a 35 m wide road for buses with four lanes, and a 175 m wide road for cars with seven lanes, making the point that one single track of Metro replaces seven lanes of car traffic. Mobility in cities is about space.

My current model for Quinpool is Saint Denis (Montreal). Having been there more recently than this pic, I can tell you it's even better now that the trees and gardens have grown.
Before and after image of Rue Saint Denis in Montreal. In both, like Quinpool, it has a wide total width and a low-rise row structure in each side with lots of shops. Before, it has 5 lanes, 2 of which are being sporadically used for parking. After, it has 2 car lanes separated by a periodic garden median facilitating midblock crosswalks, plus two bike lanes that are well-separated from the motor vehicle lanes with periodic concrete curbs.
