Took a class this past spring and spent a great deal of essay time 'proving' I was not AI like some kind of reverse Turing Test. Had to purposely add errors and omissions to pass the AI detector. Avoid things like oxford commas or em dashes. Was enough hassle that I decided to not continue.

Joliet City Council approves massive data center. This one site will use 3/4 of the power produced by the states largest nuclear power station. Developer will pay 100 million to the city. Why is this decision in the hands of a bunch of easily paid off local yokels.

The City Council votes on Thursday, March 19. Over 6000 residents within 3 miles according to the census but they call us 'a few isolated farm houses'. We don't get a vote, we don't get a say, we get none of the benefits but we have to live with the consequences.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque: "This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".
