Maybe Brotherhood and the manga (in hindsight since Hiroku Arakawa was on hiatus then) got to be as phenomenal as they were because 2003 got to make all of these faux pas for Arakawa (rumored) and Studio Bones to learn from and refine to a mirror's sheen. And now I know exactly how they did so.

There's very few additions/changes in Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 that are cool, but a majority of the time I find myself shaking my head at all the differences from the original manga, which turned one of the best shonen stories ever written to "just another forgettable one with a predictable plot."

Playing Chicken Invaders 2 with a controller honestly feels like cheating. You were either intended to have omnidirectional movement on keyboard, or 360 degree movement with the delicacy of a bulldozer on mouse. Controller gives you both benefits without the downsides and makes it way easier lol.

I'll concede on the level design being worse and Dante's kit being limited, but you have to concede on DMC3 limiting you to one style at a time (no, you cannot give credit to DMC3 Switch for a feature DMC4 introduced), the physics not being as tight, and a third of the enemy roster being bad.

Yeah, DMC4 is so bad, it's not like there's an entire modding group trying to rework DMC3's mechanical base to being more like DMC4 where it's much easier to string multiple combos together with Dante, or how a majority of the Combo Mad guys cut their teeth on DMC4 in the late 00s and early 2010s.

It's fair for folks to prefer DMC3 over DMC4 for very understandable reasons, but if you call DMC4 a bad game, I straight-up immediately distrust anything that comes out of you about the genre as a whole, whether because I assume you engage differently with these games or just have bad opinions.
