Ireland is a fascinating country, especially for those of us interested in the politicisation of migration and European integration. This article, where I look into linkages of the two issues across four Irish treaty referendums, is now out in CEP! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

Mobilising on Migration? Linkages of Migration and European Integration in Four Irish EU Referendums
In a Europe where contestation over migration and European integration has become increasingly connected, Ireland seems to be an outlier. Whereas European integration has been a politicised issue in ...

One thing I wish people understood about authoritarianism is life often looks more or less the same. Troops aren’t marching down the street every day; people go to restaurants, have their office jobs. But everyone knows that stepping out of line, even slightly, can derail your life with no recourse

As Lise Rye and I show in this paper, debates about "where to wriggle" have been ongoing in Norway since the beginning of the association to the EU internal market and, as recent developments make clear, are not likely to go off the agenda anytime soon – happy to see this paper out!

Lise Rye and I have made a database of political documents on Norwegian European policies in the period 1987-2022. It's available here: doi.org/10.18712/NSD... I hope this can contribute to more studies on Norway-EU relations (which hasn't become any less relevant these last weeks).

My students are making podcasts in the course 'The EU in the public sphere' again this semester, and I'm in the market for good examples! Anything related to the EU goes, but extra happy about podcasts directly related to the topic of the course. 🧵 Here are the ones already on my list:

Right-wing populist parties have risen. Populism hasn’t.
Populist attitudes haven't increased. But populist politicians and parties have encouraged those attitudes.
