As we travel the rocky path through life, experiencing the good, the bad and the indifferent, aren't we supposed to get wiser? So someone explain BREXIT, Donald TRUMP and Mother Nature biting us on the arse. At least I have Pompey to keep me sane PUP

The final section covers: + A Modern Industrial Strategy You can sign up to recieve it here: act.labour.org.uk/p/sign_up 4/4
A Modern Industrial Strategy

In June, Labour announced its new Modern Industrial Strategy, a plan to improve business investment and create good jobs across the country.

What does this mean?

It means more than 7,000 British businesses – supporting up to 300,000 skilled jobs – will see their electricity bills slashed by up to 25% from 2027.

This 10-year plan will create 1.1 million good, well, paid jobs in thriving industries and deliver our Plan for Change.

This builds on the work we’ve already done to prioritise better jobs for Britain, with around 380,000 new jobs in the UK economy since July of last year.

Key talking points:

A new plan to cut energy bills for 7,000 key growth businesses.
An extra £1.2bn a year for skills programmes, with programmes aimed at digital, defence and engineering.
More money and support for small and medium businesses to adopt new technologies and grow.
Businesses have been calling for an industrial strategy for years, but under three successive Prime Ministers the Tories refused to deliver one, driving down investment and job creation.

Labour knows that the only way to grow the economy is to give businesses the security to invest and create good jobs. "We’ve said from day one Britain is back in business under this government, and the £100 billion of investment we’ve secured in the past year shows our Plan for Change is already delivering for working people."

Jonathan Reynolds, Business and Trade Secretary

Thank you for reading the first edition of The Labour Rosette. None of the progress we’ve shared here would be possible without you. Whether you have supported us for years, or have just joined us, thank you for standing with us as we begin the work of national renewal.

This is just the beginning. We’ll be back next month with more updates from across Government – and more on how we’re delivering real change.

Been a full on week for Labour. I’ve gathered just a few highlights. Most important in my view, is Mone. Being held accountable for her failed PPE supply. I hope we get our money back. Daylight robbery under Labour does not pay
1. Michelle Mone in Court being sued for £122m unusable PPE plus storage plus interest
2. Sickle cell patients to get better treatment after £9m boost
3. £500m boost for hydrogen to create thousands of British jobs
4. Additional £96m for the Crown Prosecution Service
5. 1st time in 17 years, the NHS cut waiting lists in the month of April.
6. Funds for crackdown on fraud, bribery and corruption
7. Agreement on Gibraltar with EU
8. Extra £29bn for NHS
9. Free breakfast clubs extended to every primary school pupil in England
10. Free school meals in England extended to all children with a parent on UC.
11. £39bn over ten years to build social rent, affordable rent, and shared ownership homes
12. The £3 cap on single fares in England is staying for two more years.
13. £2.3bn a year to repair ageing school buildings
14. Abortion decriminalised in England

It's hard after 14 years of the Tories, but you have to trust the government. They have the data, the information (most of which is published somewhere) and will have done the projections on outcomes. The Home Sec is one of the brightest people in government. This plan will be well thought through.

We have apparently a pool of 40k already here without a job - partly due to 10k arriving to find they had been exploited & no job existed. The rest are down to other reasons, such as their sponsor losing their license to sponsor due to dodgy practices. So we need to recruit them first.
