I nominated this building as a National Trust for Canada Endangered Place. It did not receive that dubious designation this year, but there’s always next year (since I am sure it will remain boarded up through 2027)

Broughty Castle, standing guard over the mouth of the Firth of Tay at Broughty Ferry. A castle was first built here from 1454, though what you see today largely dates back to the 1490s. It saw military use as recently as World War Two. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot... #Scotland
Broughty Castle. The image shows a large tower house in the centre of the frame with the left part finished in reddish stone and the right in beige harling. Low walls and the interior of the castle are visible in the foreground and on the right, while to the left is lower-level grass leading down to the shore of a bay that has a town on its far side. The scene is in sunlight.

So egregiously backwards & short-sighted. Every person in this province subsidizes cars. Your municipal taxes pay for parking & roads whether you have a car or not. Your provincial taxes pay the health care costs from car-related pollution & crashes. Your federal taxes subsidize O&G companies.
Statement from David Eby

Metro Vancouver mayors have told us they need a sustainable funding path for Translink and there have been a number of options discussed as part of that work. We will come to a solution to support Translink, but the path to sustainable funding for that organization cannot be on the backs of drivers who are already struggling with the prices at the pump. A vehicle levy or road pricing are not options we would proceed with. That's the last thing people need at a time when Trump is driving up costs. The real cost to drivers would be the Conservative parties’ plans to double car insurance rates and make drivers pay more. People can't afford that.

NDP estimates the gas tax cut "will cost approximately $280 million through to April 2027" Details on the gouging safeguard below Unclear why the BC NDP government couldn't act on this any time in the past 6 years Instead, it's a campaign promise. Remember all the 2024 campaign promises? #bcpoli
Building on the model used in the four Atlantic provinces for decades, the BC NDP will introduce a “price guard” to regulate gasoline and diesel prices in BC. The BC NDP will empower the BCUC to set the maximum prices that retail stations in the province can charge consumers for gasoline and diesel.

This maximum price will be updated weekly with fluctuations in the benchmark price for crude oil. The maximum price will be determined by the benchmark price plus allocations the BCUC sets for refining and retailer margins (including a reasonable rate of return), transportation costs, federal and provincial taxes, and other factors. The BCUC will determine these allocations through regular reviews that allow the industry to demonstrate its actual costs. The maximum price will also vary by region to account for differences in distribution and storage, retailer operating costs, and taxes.

To prevent supply shortages, the BCUC will update and publish the maximum price more often than weekly if needed in response to sudden global market shocks or supply chain interruptions. The maximum price may also be adjusted to correct for past differences between expected and actual costs.
