Palestinian, black, trans lives matter. White people chose DEI instead of adhering to Civil Rights Act altogether. We’re still dealing w/after effects of Reconstruction & longstanding, feckless liberal class unwilling to confront fascists. MMT. Punch up.

Never forget that Rufo was introduced to the world, broadly, by mainstream legacy outlets who platformed him as a reasonable, moderate, thoughtful voice of a new kind of conservatism, whose bad faith lies were framed as somehow worthy of discussion and debate. They do it every time.

This is dumb for many reasons, but the big and obvious one is, once again for the people in back, you can’t present political polarization in this country as a bothsides issue. It’s not. We have to be honest and name things as they are. Conservatives are the source of the polarization.

There are infinite pathologies associated with fascists, but a core one is that they are all, at the end of the day, fundamentally lazy people who never check their work or do the readings. Their whole schtick doesn’t require accuracy, honesty, or precision, so it makes sense. But still.

Karma rooted in a fundamental incompetence is a real thing. You can only use words to lie about the actual existing world around you for so long. People eventually look up whenever they choose & see things as they are. “Who you gonna believe me or your lyin eyes” is NOT a recipe for the long term.

Aka “Repubs/conservatives lie/fear monger about white taxpayers paying for black/brown inner city welfare queens & fraud—then lie about true feature-not-bug, systemic origins of market failings and corporate malfeasance, greed”

Never occurs to these reactionary discourse centrists just eternally asking questions that whole swaths of people existed, lived, coped, dealt & struggled, as best they could at the time, with all manner of now demonstrable, categorical things that had either not been understood or named yet

Donald Trump is an active threat to American democracy and the global order —causing everything from mass inflation to disease outbreaks. But Democrats have failed to be truly exciting and inspirational. It’s little wonder so many voters will sit this election out.

This is, in no small part, what happens when you cede control of public goods, coffers, and I.P. w/no recourse or equity in the wealth & broad-based social utility they represent, to wealthy individuals & corporations. Govt intervention creates markets and these ghouls monetize them.

most people have no idea about the Social Security income cap because they don't make $184,500/year. eliminating it is a no-brainer and would go a long way toward ensuring the program is funded long term.

the lesson from the right is not that their obsessions with trans volleyball, anti Haitian blood libel, or reversing the change in teen pregnancy rate are actually the well framed kitchen table issues of the volk but simply that political discourse becomes about things people say often and loudly

The moral, ethica & logical incoherence of modern conservatism is a feature not bug. It IS the movement. It’s not an aberration, a one-off, an outlier. And it doesn’t register in any meaningful way w/the members of that school of fish bc fish don’t know they’re in a pond or fishbowl. They just are.

I post often about @moneyontheleft.bsky.social's proposals, for two reasons: 1️⃣ If realized, they would be truly transformative. 2️⃣ Understanding their transformative potential requires mass exposure + education, since we've been raised to treat the dominant neoliberal paradigm as empirical reality.
