There are also worldbuilding issues because this is speculative fiction and Korean authors tend to prefer keeping things ambiguous while American editors insist on absolute clarity of exposition. My job is to meet them somewhere in the middle. It's a case-by-case scenario and it takes HOURS.

👀August 2026 Fiction👀 "Like Water" is a short story by E.M. Linden / @emlinden.bsky.social about losing the things we hold most dear when we are made to assimilate. Read it here! havenspec.com/fiction/like...

The text in the image is an excerpt of the piece over the cover image, titled "Quietness in Amber" and made by Caroline Jamhour. For your convenience, the Pride and Prejudice live-posting super-thread 📚
A drawing of Elizabeth Bennet, a lovely young woman with her long hair tied up nearly under a ribbon and wearing what is most likely a neo-classically inspired dress, looking pensive, two letters in her hand. Meanwhile Darcy, a handsome but stern-looking fellow, looks longingly at her. Also there is me, a little gremlin in big round glasses, skulking about in the background and hoping that they kiss.

The accompanying text reads “Trung reads Pride and Prejudice for the first time, somehow.”
