I might be posting this on a regular basis, my friends.
An illustration from "Winnie the Pooh" showing Piglet and Pooh in the woods. They have already passed by, so we see them from the back, with their heads turned toward each other.
"Is he dead yet?" asked Piglet.
"No," said Pooh.
"Fuck," said Piglet.

The rich would prefer you to believe that the "free market" is subject to the immutable law of supply and demand. But for years, the wealthy and powerful have manipulated the market for their own gain. There is nothing “free” about it. Watch.

It's already estimated that the richest 1% alone evade $163 billion in taxes every year. But Trump gutted the IRS — including the unit tasked with auditing billionaires. The agency's audit revenue fell 35%. Now, Trump's IRS is not publishing data on unpaid taxes. See the problem?

DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

#WIPWednesday For anyone in a similar situation, needle stoppers can serve the same function on the ends of interchangeable cords. I'm knitting a Courthouse Steps blanket and am knitting on two sides ~simultaneously to balance colors, so switching out the needle ends is the fastest way to go. 🧶😍
A corner of a handknit blanket in the Courthouse Steps pattern.
I have removed the US#7/4.5mm bamboo needle tips and replaced them with the green needle stoppers. The cord remains in place to act as a really long stitch holder while I work the opposite side of the blanket in the same color sequence. I have many cords, but only one pair of each size of needles.
This is a real time saver for this type of knitting, bc the stitches are always ready to go.
Knit on, my friends. This is a close-up of the same blanket in progress. You can see the threaded metal at the ends opposite to the point of the needles which attaches to the cable, but the connection point is mostly hidden by the green needle stopper. The silicone stoppers have enough grip to stay put on the metal connector while I use the needle tips to knit on the opposite side of the blanket.

To put that into dollar terms: Oregon residents are now paying $1.6 billion more for electricity than they were paying just 5 years ago, which comes out to roughly $950 extra per household per year. Alternately, that $611,000 from the pockets of Oregonians each year for each data center job.
