Bonus square: The Bubbly One
Here's a bonus square for the Learn-to-Knit blanket. You will find the other squares in my book Learn to Knit in 50 Squares. You will also find some of the squares for free on this website. This square features the Bubble Stitch. This square is among the shorter ones, so you should treat it like Square 24: The Mosaic One or 42: The Short One, when deciding where to place it in the blanket.

I-cord cast on Cast on 3 sts. Slip the stitches to the left needle. Next row: Yarn over, knit 3. Slip 3 stitches back to left needle. Repeat until you have the desired number of stitches (excluding the 3 stitches of the i-cord) 🧶 🧶 🧶 #knitting annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2022/04/27/c... 🧶🎥

🫧🫧🫧 Bubble stitch 🫧🫧🫧 This is a fun stitch created by knitting 5 rows of stocking stitch and then, on the next right side row, #knitting 5 below, i.e. counting 5 rows down from the live stitch on your left hand needle and knitting into that stitch, while unravelling the stitches in between 🧶 🧶 🧶

#Knitting tip 💡 🤔 You know how the very last stitch of your cast off looks loose and stretched? 👉 Here’s a simple remedy: 🧶 Lift the stitch below the last stitch onto your left-hand needle and knit the 2 stitches together 🙌 😉

I was asked recently how I handle stranded knitting with 3 colours on the purl side. That’s one thing I’ve NEVER done! 😱 😱 😱 But this is how I handle 3 colours on the knit side 🧶 🧶 🧶 Have you ever worked with more than 2 colours at the same time? How did you do it? #knitting

🧶 Linen stitch is a very particular stitch in knitting. It’s very dense (and takes longer to knit), it’s stable, non-stretchy, lies flat and looks neat on both sides. That’s why I like to use it for button bands 🙌✨ #knitting annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2022/02/25/t...

Upon popular request, here's the pattern for the cotton drawstring bags I've been knitting all summer ☀️🧶 ⚠️ Beware: this pattern is highly addictive, proceed with caution 😅 I'd love to see your own Annaplexis Drawstring Bags — don't hesitate to tag me in your posts!

The Annaplexis Drawstring Bag
This past summer I decided I really needed to do something about my cotton stash. So I started thinking up different projects using cotton and now I'm so addicted to this little drawstring bag. I've been making them all summer! All my friends are getting one for Christmas 😄 It's a relatively easy project and you can make it any size.

Grafting makes a completely seamless join, ideal for toes on cuff-down socks. You may find it confusing at first, but it’s only 4 steps you need to memorize. Practice grafting with square 41 from my book Learn to Knit in 50 Squares. 🔗 annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2025/10/21/l...

Most tutorials show how to graft in stocking stitch. But how do you graft in garter stitch?? 🤔 🧶 In fact it’s simpler because you repeat the same steps on the front and back needle! Make sure there’s a purl ridge facing you at the top of both the front and the back piece 😉 #knitting

🧶 The Turkish cast-on is an alternative to Judy's Magic Cast On and is arguably easier! It creates a perfectly seamless start, leaving you with live stitches on both sides of the work. This makes it ideal for toe-up sock toes 🙌🧶✨ annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2022/04/27/c...

🧶 🧶 🧶 It’s a good idea to add a lifeline every now and then, e.g. every pattern repeat, when knitting intricate patterns, such as cables, lace or brioche. If you make a mistake you can safely frog down to the lifeline and continue knitting. annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2023/02/16/m...

Brioche increases and decreases are slightly more complicated than the standard ones. To keep an unbroken sequence of knit and purl stitches, you need to increase or decrease two stitches at a time. 🧶🧶 annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2025/10/21/l...

Make one increases The “make one right” is a bit tricky, because it’s difficult to get the #knitting needle into the loop, so I pull the stitch and press the loop with my thumb to create some slack 🧶🧶🧶 annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2025/10/21/l...

JOGLESS WEEK
👉 Part 5: Jogless stranded colourwork When #knitting in the round, you're essentially knitting in a spiral, so with every round you're going up a step. This creates a jog on the cast on/off edge and is also visible if you're knitting stripes or colourwork.

Following my Jogless Purl Ridge video, some of you asked about the way I purl. I use the Norwegian purl, which is what I learned from my Danish mother. Do you use the Norwegian purl? Let me know! 🧶🧶🧶 #knitting annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/purl/

JOGLESS WEEK
👉 Part 4: Jogless purl ridge #knitting 👉 For jogless purl ridges:
Knit to end of round. Slip last stitch to left needle, make reverse yarn over, slip stitch back to right needle. Purl the next round to last stitch, purl last stitch together with yarn over 🧶🙌

#Knitting tip: An easy way to join knitted pieces is the 3-needle bind off. It’s sturdier and less stretchy than grafting, making it ideal for shoulders. 🧶🧶🧶 annaplexisinenglish.wordpress.com/2022/10/03/e...

#Knitting tip: How do you make a non-bulky folded hem on the cast off edge? If you use the 3-needle bind off, you get a really bulky ridge. Grafting the seam closed takes more time, but is in my opinion well worth the effort. 🧶🧶🧶

Dropped a stitch in garter stitch? 😱😭🫣 👉 Insert a crochet hook into the “pocket” that is formed by the loose strands, catch the live stitch. Work your way up, catching each strand in turn and pulling it through from alternating directions to match the #knit and purl rows of the garter stitch 😉🧶🙌💪
