I have had editors, not to mention professors, who would’ve circled this with so much red ink and asked me what the hell was my problem. These people aren’t journalists, let’s be clear. Theyre propaganda mouthpieces.

Yes!!! That’s the one that baffles me the most because it’s clearly the easiest one to make work. Muppets humour works by taking all of the comedy and hijinks 100% dead on seriously. But coming out as WHEYYYY PIKE PUPPET has me go “Oh okay an entire team of writers has somehow missed the point”

Katline Storm @katlinestorm.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

I guess maybe the difference is TOS and TNG were fighting for their lives every single week to not get axed by the network 😆

010

Katline Storm @katlinestorm.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

It’s not just marketing though, the writers clearly have the same opinion, which is what kind of kills it because TOS and (certainly) TNG treated their silly stories with some level of gravitas. SNWs approach is: “Wow that was fun let’s see what (corporately safe) WACKY hijinks we can do next week”

Katline Storm @katlinestorm.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

The thing that truly rankles me is they proved that they CAN do a good gimmick episode. The Lower Decks crossover is proof that when they TRY they can make it fun. But they never TRIED to be that creative again- and unfortunately that meant also giving up on the interesting setups they HAD done too

In a similar vein to Irene, I can see Rally's appeal but personally I can't imagine getting along with her. Maybe I'm just too sentimental, or old. I don't think I can wife women who can shoot my dick off at any point? That's a highly contentious opinion I know.

Katline Storm @katlinestorm.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

I dunno, I like the odds actually. Rally operates on anime logic which means she only has two opportunities to deal damage: The first ten seconds and the last ten seconds of any interaction. Otherwise she’s getting her ass kicked the rest of the time 😭

My god don’t even get me started on Call of Duty. One of the most popular characters of the entire series (Price) is ALSO AN OLD MAN WHO IS GETTING OLDER AND TIREDER AS THE SERIES GOES ON. The Masons?? Father and son who are emotionally vulnerable and cry OFTEN???

Katline Storm @katlinestorm.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

One of the most popular soldier characters of the 2000’s was Sam. God damn. Fisher. A middle aged dad who was consistently getting older and more out of shape as the series went on.

I think Ace Combat 8 is going to be a divisive game because it’s darker and more intense than any previous entry but in doing so makes the bold choice to be genuinely unpleasant at times. This makes it more successful in sending a “war is bad” message, but it *is* unpleasant when it choses to be.

A short-sleeve variant, modeled below by Admiral James T. Kirk, was also assigned for use during off-duty hours. Though never used fleet-wide, it was officially retired one year later in 2270 by the better known “Maroon Monster“. You can read about these changes + MORE in The Emissary War on AO3!

The Frontiersman Fatigues, also known as the Chekov Memorial Uniform, were introduced in 2269 in the wake of the Battle of Bajor and first contact with the Cardassian Union. Featured in the 4th Kelvin-Trek film, Emissary War, this uniform was best known for being worn by members of Deep Space Nine.

They don't understand art because they believe it is beneath them, why do a thing when the computer can do the thing faster and better? And because they don't care about art, they don't seem to be able to see the flaws in the AI generated output because it looks higher definition and thus better.

And I get the same vibe from AI proponents; They simply don't understand art, and think it's beneath them. They don't understand the appeal, they come from a techbro mindset and think art is a solved equation and anything that isn't photorealistic or extremely high detail is failing at the goal.
