The state police finally got back to me about my request from March and said "wow, that's a lot of data, we're working on it real hard and maybe next month we'll give you another update." In case anybody wanted a real world example of public records requests for video held by the police.
An email from the state police saying that they are working on my request and need more time before providing any responses at all.

🚨🧵about another PCR-based Covid test option coming the USA, by @biff234523.bsky.social "This will become the 2nd molecular test available on the U.S. market — the sole option now being Aptitude Medical’s Metrix platform following the exit of Cue, Lucira, and..." threadreaderapp.com/thread/20737...
🚨📢NEW: Diagnostics company @visbymedical has been granted @US_FDA clearance for a new OTC at-home COVID-19 and influenza A/B combo molecular test.

This will become the second molecular test available on the U.S. market — the sole option now being Aptitude Medical’s Metrix platform following the exit of Cue, Lucira, and 3EO in recent years.

This test will be single-use (disposable), and fully integrated, so following the Lucira model instead of the Metrix/Pluslife model with a reusable reader. However, it will be powered via USB-C cable instead of batteries like Lucira. It will be nasal swab only, requires a mobile app, and results will be available in 30 minutes.

The Visby test boasts a much lower Limit of Detection than Metrix’s combo test:

I think the replies to this are very interesting. ADHD is sometimes taken less seriously than Autism, but many of us who are both apparently find ADHD to be more disruptive to our lives. Worth considering, especially for parents of neurodivergent children.

My books cartoon for this week’s @theguardian.com
Five cut-out-and-keep bookplates

Each reads ‘ex-libris’ then has a space for the owners name. The design reflects the genre:

 Sci-fi:
Nanotechnology tracks the book, monitors its condition and summons a retrieval drone if necessary.

 Horror:
An ancient curse creates feelings of unease, rising to apalling, abject horror unless the book is returned.

 Romance :
Acts as an invite to the county's grandest ball, but revoked if not returned in a polite and timely manner.

 Crime:
Tailed by a dishevelled Gumshoe who Seems cynical, but loves books more than dames and bourbon.

 Fantasy:
A fellowship of heroes lead the borrower on an epic quest to return the tome to its Rightful shelf.

A PERSONAL ADVICE:

🫀You suspect possible HEART issues after your COVID-19?

Make an appointment with your GP or cardiologist, and consider starting the conversation like this:

➡️"I've developed new symptoms such as [e.g., rapid heartbeat, dizziness, chest discomfort, or fatigue when standing], which began weeks/months after my COVID-19 infection. I'd like to discuss a targeted screening for my potential long-term cardiovascular complications, including myocarditis, arrhythmias, increased risk of heart attack/stroke, or postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), as clearly outlined in recent statements from the American Heart Association (AHA) and European Society of Cardiology (ESC), which recognise COVID-19 as an independent risk factor for these conditions, even after mild cases."
