NYT clanker Keynes is fun to watch but unconvincing. Keynes thought he had two great insights:(1)declining marginal propensity to consume implies a demand shortfall w/o investment;(2)can't count on investment b/c it's based on vibes and vibes about vibes. This is where he'd have started with AI.

Fascinating & instructive comparison of two similar empirical studies that used very different theoretical framing, showing how important it is to figure out a compelling, bold answer to the question of “what is this a case of?”. Impressive & ego-free reflections from @jasonmfletcher.bsky.social.

It was inevitable that these Democrats, who over the past 30+ years moved so far away from advocating for the basic needs & aspirations of the vast majority of Americans, are now freaking out about the overwhelming electoral success of those running to serve the interests of the many, not the few.

Yes, anti-everything Trump—but it’s *essential* to provide a positive vision for America that will bind people together in hope. That will be much more likely to win & set us up with a foundation for all the rebuilding of the American state & polity that needs to happen.

Critical to recognize the widespread joy at Magyar's win in Hungary from people across the ideological spectrum. Rejecting illiberalism & restoring democratic institutions is everything--even tho he is much farther to the right in his policies than some of us might want: it's not about partisanship.

Another thing that helps imposter syndrome in the academy: remembering that we are all simply part of a set of long, ongoing conversations & just contributing in the moment, rather than seeing our interventions as some sort of endpoint. Not knowing something is an opportunity, not a roadblock.

“The gender gap in retractions is not primarily a story about individual ethics. It is a story about who leads the work that is most ambitious, most visible and most depended upon — & therefore most vulnerable to correction.” Or, how gendered structural forces still matter *a lot* in academia.
