could just be me but I feel like the WoL is more frequently Visibly Fucking Pissed in cutscenes in ShB vs other expacs

My WoL, Altan, glaring at Elidibus (in Ardbert's body). There's a dialogue choice:
What will you say?
Indeed...*Ardbert.*
I thought you were supposed to be good at this.
("I thought you were supposed to be good at this." is selected)

Altan says the selected line, still glaring

poetic and smug is also very fitting for Altan bc like. In addition to his personality, as a SMN one of his attacks is literally cast by snapping his fingers, and that implies a certain Vibe

010

Kit (he/him arc???) @katabassist.bsky.social · 3h

doing The Bozja Incident duty as a SMN was such a treat...using Demi-Bahamut as an opener against Trauma Bahamut (Trauhamut?), and then the timing working out so that I used Demi-Phoenix attacks for the finisher felt very poetic and smug in a fun way

In Cid's memory of Bozja, in the arena where you fight Altered Bahamut. A Demi-Bahamut egi is also summoned and facing it.

Altered Bahamut is defeated, while the Demi-Phoenix egi looks on

Stormblood works really well because its female cast of heroes and villains alike supports how misogyny is a feature not a bug of fascism and colonialism but inversely I think there is a reading of it that is wholly about sexism and the war is allegorical for the foundational gender strife.

I really appreciate how Locked In the dev team was on making even sidequests (and even yellow sidequests!) interact with the MSQ themes in some way even if that did come with the deeply weird canonization of unborn babies having souls in the FFXIVerse (in one of the Lakeland yellow sidequests)

there's also just something in the canon text in the introduction of the Oversoul right before it's made explicit that the WoL fully ate Ardbert's whole soul. something something the identity of the dead overpowering vs empowering the living something something...

urianger has a TON of dialogue options post 3.4! these player prompt corresponds to each image respectively. 1. "How fares the realm?" 2. "We can but carry on." 3. "It must have been difficult for you to deceive Alisaie." 4. "About those clothes you were wearing..."

Urianger: At present, my thoughts turn not to the realm, but to those whom ever I hold in mine heart. Mistress Alisaie and Master Alphinaud, our comrades-in-arms, dearest Moenbryda...and Lady Minfilia...
Urianger: What is good and what is right, what is just...would that the facts lain before me had allowed for a more simple calculus. Alas, the Ascian cameth unto me armed with that most merciless of weapons: the truth.
Urianger: I made my choice, and Mistress Alisaie was right to condemn it.
Urianger: 'Twas cruel and contemptible, and I am not deserving of forgiveness. Nor do I seek it, for these sins should ever weigh on my conscience.

Urianger: And so I shall, for as long as I have the strength to do so...and for as long as you all will suffer it.

Urianger: Indeed... I have known her and her brother since they were children, and have ever held them in the highest esteem. Lies do not become us.
Urianger: To betray their trust felt akin to breaking faith with Master Louisoix. Never before have I been so sorely tested...and never again, I pray.

Urianger: Ah. Thou speakest of that which I wore when consorting with the Warriors of Darkness. Their purpose having been fulfilled, I saw no reason to take them up again.
Urianger: While it has not escaped my notice that full many of our comrades have chosen to don different garments for a variety of reasons, I have ever been a practical man. What I wear now shall suffice.

honestly now that i think of it this is very par for the course given he’s mostly based the type of man he wants to be on not being the type of man he doesn’t want to be, bc that‘s mostly what he has experience with (this factors into aforementioned gender complexes)

tbf to him he was already set up to do better bc he doesn’t have thancred’s complexes about gender*. but his presence as a very clear example of what not to do and why not to do it was helpful! *he has his own, albeit a good deal less extreme, complexes about gender
