#altcanon Edmont (in his parenting style to his actual children) reminds Altan somewhat of his own parents…which is more or less precisely why he’ll never see Edmont as a parental figure. He accepts the good intent (especially post HW patches), at least, but he can’t accept anything more than that.

#altcanon While Altan’s parents are from Limsa Lominsa, and he grew up there, he actually spent the first few months of his life in Ul’dah, where his parents had travelled some months into his mother’s pregnancy to ensure she had the best care possible, as her health was taking a turn for the worse

#altcanon Pythos, Altan’s Azem, used any pronouns, btw, but only “he” being used to refer to her in-game is still very much canon bc Amaurot being a society where people would mostly refer to their friend that uses any pronouns with those assigned to them at birth feels accurate

I'm not fond of Ancients & their shards being doppelgangers (it's boring & has unideal lore implications) but with Mowen & Grenoldt in particular I do like how it's used to show that people who start out with the same "core" can turn out very differently depending on their circumstances & choices

cyella speaks with such poetry and rehearsal, she thinks of herself as something deserving of like, ritual contempt. she speaks in terms of heroes and shaping and writing their destinies. and shadowkeeper vs norvrandt feels so… archetypally fantasy

it's such a stark "dropping of character" in the theater that is the plot. emet is just flatly refusing to engage with the fiction. he isn't playing his part in the story the exarch is telling, he is not engaging with this as a fairy tale villain, he's the emperor of garlemald and he has a gun

there's a good bit of emphasis put on the WoL being more or less physically fine post-merging with Ardbert and killing Emet/Hades, and I think Altan feeling physically fine is a good dramatic disconnect, so I think I'm gonna have him only 1-80 WAR between ShB and EW, and save MNK for post-EW
