Captain Sargotta's Mizzenwale Dais, which is painted mostly in the colors of the box art, except the more colorful cables, which are more colorful (blue, purple, red, yellow, green, and black, instead of all black).
As basing material I used the Red Planet mix from Base X and a reddish-brown tuft from Gamers Grass. The base has a black rim.
There's masking tape where her feet will be glued onto the base, so I can varnish the dais.

#WIPWednesday & end of the month, and it's the first month this year where I have no finished mini for #paintslam. 😢 It was a busy month, I was a bit ill too, and then I've been helping family in their vineyard in my free time. Didn't help at all that I've been hopping between a few projects. 😅

Several WIP minis for 40k: A custom Lt Kage and Col. Schaeffer, a firstborn Space Marine, a modified Commissar Graves on foot, and the High Council on their modified Centaur.

Descriptions of the minis:
Schaeffer is the classic metal mini, wearing a grey uniform with green armor and black boots. Kage is wearing a light brown officer's uniform with reddish brown boots. He wields a bolt pistol and a large knife.
The Space Marine is painted in dark grey, armed with a black plasma pistol with yellow coils and a power axe.
The Commissar has a white uniform with golden trims, a black greatcoat with red trims and a brown fur collar, and a silver armor. Her power fist is red, her bolt pistol is golden with silver parts.
Standing in the back is the Triumvirate High Council's modified Centaur. It is painted in brown grey. The council members are wearing black uniforms and silver armor with golden ornaments.

Four WIP Imperial Guard vehicles for Warhammer 40k: Two Hippogriffs each configured with two melta guns, a Hydra, and a Leman Russ Vanquisher with a tank commander.
They are painted in grey with lighter grey camo stripes in some sort of zigzag pattern, and bluish grey triangles. Next step: Edge highlights, the Vanquisher and the guns of the Hydra already have them.

Basically unchanged from the last time I've shown it: The Casket of Souls.
The skeletons have been painted with a bone white contrast color that has been further drybrushed. Gold and turquoise parts of the model have been base painted.
The casket is of a light brown color to resemble sandstone. It stands on an oval MDF base with light brown texture paste.

With tracks and wheels glued on, the Centaur is mobile and ready to roll. 😎 Only a subtle and basic rust effect, since that's mostly hidden anyway. Shame the front side skirt doesn't really allow for the wheel to turn. That would have looked cool. #ImperialGuard #nerdlings

More 2nd edition was played this weekend, with the Imperial Guard taking their turn to feel the wrath of my Cult. We played the Tyranid Attack mission and gave the Guard some sturdy defences, but this wasn't enough to save them from the Cults many grasping arms. #Oldhammer #Warhammer40k #Nerdlings

The High Council minis are in the process of receiving their base coat. They'll be wearing black uniforms with golden trims, and silver armor with golden ornaments.
The hull of the Centaur is in brown grey washed with a thinned AP Military Shader; the interior is in a creme white; the floor as well as the railing are of a gunmetal color; and ornaments are in gold.
The large flag is painted similar to that of the 8th Cadia from the 3.5 codex: red, black, with white borders and golden ornaments, an olive green laurel and bone white scrolls. The smaller flags have golden borders right now, but I think I'll change that to white as well.
The High Council's crest is silver with golden ornaments and bone white scrolls. A red diagonal stripe is behind it.

BREAKING: The Imperial Military Band of Altdorf (here pictured during its restructuring process after the Siege of Altdorf in 2051) will no longer be opening for Ed Sheeran

The High Council project gave me a good excuse to try myself at building the version of Graves I mentioned in the QRP. She's literally kicking xenos off her planet one by one. #WIPWednesday #warhammercommunity #40k #ImperialGuard #AstraMilitarum #nerdlings

Warhammer 40k miniatures. A WIP Commissar Graves, the vehicle version of her mini modified so she performs a kick with her leg. Further changes are: using a female head with a bun from the Cadian Upgrades kit, because Graves' hat has fallen onto one of the steps behind her; using the version of her arm where she's holding her bolt pistol; and replacing the Cadian soldier's helmet with an old Forge World bit (a helmet with respirator).
Her victim is a painted Tyranid. Not exactly the kind of xenos I'd like to be in a close combat with… but then I'm not a commissar.

I've finished building the Command Centaur, and I'm quite happy how it looks. Now the question how to name it. The prominent searchlight leads me to Cyclops, but that one is already taken in the Guard. 😅 Open for suggestions. #warhammercommunity #40k #ImperialGuard #AstraMilitarum #nerdlings

The custom Centaur from Commissar Graves' kit, further modified to serve the Imperial Guard's Triumvirate High Council as command vehicle.
Some of the more notable changes are a large searchlight instead of the double-headed eagle, a heavy stubber instead of the gatling cannon, a flag and several antennas, and removing the plow for the standard Centaur bumper.
The modifications to Graves' crest were subtle, only removing the power fist while leaving the skull intact, and covering the scripture with putty.

A look at the deck. The deck has several magnets for the minis of the High Council to be attached. In the place where Graves would stand are a computer and the handset of a radio.

Side-by-side comparison of the WIP and the finished version of Graves' Centaur. The modified deck has one less step, therefore its top level is larger than in the original vehicle, large enough to comfortably hold a mini on a 25 mm base.

The results of last evening and this afternoon's building sessions: Here's a preliminary look at the Imperial Guard's Triumvirate High Council. Have a nice remaining Sunday everyone! @edpaintskrieg.bsky.social @owolf.bsky.social @unitedpackage.bsky.social

An early WIP placement test of the High Council on what will be their command vehicle. The modified deck of Commissar Graves' Centaur fits the Triumvirate and their Attaché rather well, better than a standard Centaur imho. The feet of the minis are already magnetized, so the triumviri can change the positions on the deck, or maybe even the vehicle if they want something with a bit more armour.
I'm not too excited about the different levels created by the steps. Maybe I'll try and remove at least the topmost one before adding magnets to the floor. It does make for a good vantage point though.

I'm in a mood to build & now I've got questions for the High Council. @edpaintskrieg.bsky.social @owolf.bsky.social @unitedpackage.bsky.social Most importantly: Which head do you pick to represent your character? Also: Are there distinct colours for the HC's uniforms and its command vehicle?
