The @umich.edu & VA team behind this study used AHRQ funding over many years to study catheter-related issues, and develop & test tools to help hospitals reduce catheter use. It worked. And those tools are now available for free. This is what AHRQ funding is all about. @academyhealth.bsky.social

No one likes having a urinary catheter when they're in the hospital. And no one should have one any longer than they absolutely need to, because of the risk of a UTI or worse. Yet a new #PatientSafety study shows many hospitals still don't do enough: www.michiganmedicine.org/health-lab/m...

The "health freedom” movement is run by health authoritarians. They want to impose their anti-vaccine agenda on you, to threaten and intimidate scientists, and to let parents treat their children as disposable objects. This needs to be opposed, not appeased. My latest.

89% of SBE NSF grants were never awarded!! My field (Cognitive Neuroscience) is included in this gutting, as are so many others. Plenty of horror stories in the same space are also coming from NIH. It’s not just delaying research; it’s labs shutting down and a next gen that won’t be trained.
