personally I'm more interested in the implications for security by obscurity, there's a looooot of companies that just....don't bother to make their shit secure (Flock) if AI is this good at decompiling games now, I shudder to imagine the impact of attacking stuff that actually matters

Discovering that the Sega Channel Revival Project put a rom hack into the mix for October 1995. Specifically the Batadvantage patch from 2018 for Batman & Robin. Extremely good hack, but also annoying to see for a reconstruction of a 1995 broadcast.

I didn't really enjoy Sifu, it kind of gets better once you get the full kit and when you get more used to its demands and flow but it has a very rigid feel to what you're allowed to do so it ends up still being boring and tedious with bouts of dying horribly.

Also like Castlevania has an interestingly storied history of people HATING on aspects of its design for literal decades at this point and I'd suggest that has informed the direction the game went in and yet, maybe the armchair critics that can't play or design games on youtube aren't perfect?

It's fascinating that the new Castlevania release might be the tipping point around friction and game design and being too balanced finally recedes into games can have bullshit that sucks and that's good actually. It makes complete sense that one of the icons of having some bullshit does it.

Feels silly that xstation (quite an effort to install, pretty decent otherwise) and that other one that just kind of sucks and isn't an ODE exactly were the only game in town for years and then what everyone decides to release drop in's for the PS1 all at once...

Round up of early import Neo Geo AES games. The scores are not good. A bit too harsh maybe but considering the price & that they had been at the arcade already where they didn't exactly set the world on fire at 20-30p, not really

Not exactly an argument against mastodon as such but I think if there was a mass exodus to mastodon you'd have a perpetual rolling set of problems associated with everyone being on mastodon. Big community operation just perpetually is a pain in the ass and expensive (time wise too!).
