Need to remember to at least cross-post my void-bound ramblings here more. First draft of a villanelle done for poetry class, inspired by Marathon and the almost comical treatment of Rooks. Players really need to be less aggro and occasionally make some deals so interactions are less one-note
Screenshot of a poem by the poster.

Sheep in Wolves' Clothing

Those slippery things you should not brook.
They want your life; they want your loot.
No matter what they say, never trust a Rook.

They'll take what's yours by hook or by crook.
If you see one nearby, give it the boot.
Those slippery things you should not brook.

If you hear one masking, you should be shook.
Those wily bastards are worse than any brute.
No matter what they say, never trust a Rook.

Revived by your allies, but your gun it took.
Look at it bargaining, trying to play cute.
That slippery thing you should not brook.

Its very humanity it long ago forsook,
And within your group it will instill dispute;
No matter what they say, never trust a Rook.

You see it nesting with claymores in a nook;
Do not hesitate, pull the trigger, just shoot!
That slippery thing you should not brook;
No matter what it says, never trust a Rook.

Take this sort of shit seriously. 99% of these guys are bitch made shit talkers, but that 1% are truly unhinged, dangerous men. If you ask my opinion, women today should be armed. All of you. And if it comes down to you or them, send flowers.

Glad I'm not a reviewer or anything or else I'd be getting an infinite amount of shit for saying that Slay the Spire 2 just doesn't measure up to most deckbuilders I've played in any way. And rarely cost as much

Bungie's greatest mistake with Marathon is expecting players to read. Genuinely thing the only way they could've gotten a better reception is going full large gacha game with the tutorials. Assume players are going to pay attention to literally nothing

Big ditto here. Saying "Indies are the future, AAA doesn't matter" doesn't acknowledge the many ways indie can also be unsustainable/exploitative--and it doesn't respect the craft of AAA devs! So many cool people making incredibly cool things that couldn't exist otherwise!! Solidarity is important.

The Epstein files document what many women researchers have long experienced but rarely seen laid bare so starkly: exclusion operating behind closed doors, shaping who gets funded, invited, mentored, and taken seriously. How many of these networks, norms, and gatekeepers remain in place?

So... it was veterinarians shifting from being mostly male to mostly female that led to its corporatization? Women were just too risk averse to own their own practices? Kinda weird that Goldin stated that corporatization of veterinary practices was still in its infancy then
Andrews: Well, actually, Claudia Goldin, the Nobel Prize-winning economist, notes in her book that male veterinarians are more likely to own their own practices, whereas female veterinarians prefer not to because being an owner involves more financial risk and longer and less flexible hours.

So the shift from a male-dominated profession to a female-dominated profession in the area of veterinary medicine has led to corporatization, and we’ve gone from a world where most veterinarians own their own practices to one where most veterinary practices are owned by private equity, which has not been entirely without problems for the pets and farm animals of America.

But I am willing to state that, corporatization aside, the feminization of veterinary medicine has not led to the collapse of society, and is unlikely to do so. I think it’s basically fine, but ——

Chaos Zero Nightmare is another one of those great games trapped with gacha monetization. But the rates are better than MiHoYo, and so far, the worst characters still work just fine in endgame. Would do great as a $20/25 game, since it has a bit of Darkest Dungeon, HSR, Slay the Spire and anime boob

Good literary translation requires understanding (language, culture, genre--on both sides of the translation) and an ability to write well. "AI" can't do that. There are no shortcuts. Treat your work and foreign language readers with the respect they deserve. You won't fool anyone with this.

Honestly can't believe that Destiny 2 copyright lawsuit hasn't lost steam. The lawsuit is basically "both of our works contain tropes common to the genres they work in, so they clearly plagiarized me." Claiming that cyclical life/death is evidence of plagiarism by Bungie of all companies

In honor of the day, I turned this idea into an infographic. One of the ways I look at this: a Democrat is going to be called 'a radical leftie' no matter what their views are and Republicans will succeed in manipulating issue salience. In the upper right, you at least stop looking defensive.

Walk in to hear a preacher or some such saying, "This administration will continue to push back against darkness." Feel like part of the reason this weird messianic support of Trump took off is Dems ceding Christianity to the GOP and rarely citing their faith as motive

"Both parties were equally responsible" Is "self-identified independents" just code for habitual fence sitting
Among those who self-identified as Democrats, a combined 68% said either Trump or Republicans were most responsible. Almost 56% of Republicans said Democrats were most responsible.

However, self-identified independents, who made up 35.8% of those polled, assigned blame to both parties: 34% of them said “all elected officials were equally responsible.” While 25.9% of independents held Democrats responsible for the shutdown, 17.8% blamed Trump and 17% blamed Republicans.

Things might not change here as fast as they could
Asked who they think is “most responsible for the current government shutdown,” 22.8% of respondents answered the Republican Party, and an additional 18% answered the president — a combined 40.8%. Just under 5% said they didn’t know.

However, the minority party did not escape blame from poll respondents: 29.1% said they felt the Democratic Party was most responsible for the shutdown. And just over a quarter (25.2%) of those polled said “all elected officials are equally responsible.”
