I've been elected Chair of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Disability Panel (Part of Equality Panel) So pleased this week, first meeting today. Can expect as Chair I'll be robust and determined to get improvement for disabled and neurodivergent people & our 1.6 million residents.

I am still digesting Jason Arday's book, Great and Unfortunate Things. It's not easy to read what he stood for and know how it ended. Here's just one little snippet just to give a flavour. There is so much humanity here.

To this day, even as someone with a relatively senior position at a university, if I go into a boardroom and there's a swivel chair, I'll take the opportunity to swing around on it. That's the great thing about the autistic imagination: a swivel chair isn't just a chair - it's a fairground ride, an opportunity to release tension. I might have learned to suppress a meltdown but not a yearning for a swivel in a chair.

So on way in to neurology department. DH: so where into your brain do they inject. CK: Into the brainstem in back of neck. DH: Same place you stab a deer if you hit it with a car dispatch it. Honestly just when I think we couldn't get any weirder...

Now off to Walton Center for the big consult, now I did my hair so we could easily do GOB (Blocks) if needed into my head today.... but now I just realise I'm really channelling my inner Wednesday....

One of the few weird perks of being Audhd and dyslexic is I've got a short shelf...means I actively have to work hard at stuff, it has to be more explicit ...also have no idea on DHs stuff so good test monkey. Useful when you want to test how students will totally misinterpreted everything.

Learning btw is hard, frustrating, sometimes unpleasant and deeply exhausting. It's also one of the most deeply satisfying things you can do with your life. Learn hard stuff, push outside your comfort zone. You'll surprise yourself. 👍

What university is for in the age of AI debate going on. I think having just done my PhD , It's about understanding, applying and developing knowledge ...and that requires deep thinking. Just parroting information from a AI that isn't learning. Learning is hard, applied, requires context and effort
